Suspected biased editing
Honourable Sir, While I appreciate your continued contributions to WP, Sir, some of your edits on controversial articles seem to be adding bias rather than removing them like respected Sir, you will see below:
You recently added to the 2002 Gujarat violence article:
[According to testifying witnesses, Muslims in the Amraiwadi area unfurled the Pakistani flag and raised pro-Pakistan slogans ten days after the Godhra riots. There were continued claims of Hindus being attacked in the area .This was accompanied by cries demanding that "Kaffirs" be killed and their houses emptied, said Ashok Patel, a BJP member and municipal corporator. Another witness told the commission that "Hindu outfits like VHP Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal, under political pressure, had made concerted efforts to vitiate the atmosphere of communal amity prevailing in Ramol by organising public rallies and inflammatory speeches."
Rashid Multani, a member of the Ramol gram panchayat and social worker, said, "Even Muslims had attended the cremation ceremony of those from the area killed in Godhra. There was no communal tension there and amity prevailed between the two communities till February 28." ' But on March 1, after instigation by the VHP and Bajrang Dal, widespread riots broke out in Ramol-Jantanagar and a mob of 50,000 pelted stones at and burnt shops, houses and other properties of Muslims, he said. One Muslim was killed and five or six were injured in the violence. "Though police reached the spot," he said, "their strength was very less compared to the number of miscreants."
I would call upon you Sir, to be circumspect while adding such biases in controversial articles - while dear sir, I see this whole article has been edited in such a way as to present the point of view of belligerent Hindu nationalist parties - 80% of the article shows how all the different orgainsations and fact finding missions have been presenting their bias against the Hindus against the whole body of artiles and reports from established newspapers and magazines..

Since you were a party in the recent ArbCom case Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Hkelkar_2, this ruling applies to you. Of note is the explanation later given by one of the arbitrators, here, "Yes, our goal is to stop the stalking of edits and admin action between the parties..." As far as I can see, you have not been involved in editing Surya Siddhanta, and therefore your remarks about Dbachmann's editing on that page could be easily construed as "stalking his edits", and your implication that he violated the ArbCom ruling could easily be seen as a veiled threat. In case you're wondering, I have Dbachmann's talk page on my watchlist, so I noticed your post. I've also made a note of this at WP:AN. --Akhilleus (talk) 02:08, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
- Several points. One, using the rollback tool as opposed to actually editing a previous version of the page to remove commentary more suited to the user talk namespace is not by any stretch of the imagination an abuse of admin tools. I do not believe Dbackmann violated the ArbCom restrictions, but you may ask for clarification from the Arbitrators on this point at requests for arbitration. Two, the decision says that parties should cease stalking eachother's edits. Let Dbachmann be, and I'm sure he will be willing to do the same for you. Third and finally, you say that Dbachmann was "undoing legitimate edits (every edit the anon made prior to July 10), and then protecting the page." This would appear to be untrue, as he actually protected the page to prevent 59.94.47.127 (talk · contribs) from continually adding messages that do not belong in an encyclopedia article, not to lock it out from engaging in content-related edits. guys, that page is not even remotely connected to the Hkelkar case. Bakaman knows perfectly well I have done nothing wrong, he is just trying very hard to construct some case against me. He has shown again and again that he is not afraid to make a fool of himself in the process. Who says I'm a mediator on that article? I've edited that article, and plan on doing so in the future, when I can spare some time to read through Priolkar completely. As for "stalking" you, I don't pay any attention to you unless you edit pages on my watchlist (e.g. Goa Inquisition, Dbachmann's talk page. When I posted on ANI about you & Anwar, it was because I noticed that you two were edit warring on Goa Inquisition--after that I looked at both of your contribs, sure. But normally I go for weeks without even noticing your activity, and I hope that's the case in the future. By the way, you seem to forget that I wasn't a party to the ArbCom case. Forgive me
I have deprecated Wikipedia:WikiProject History of Bangladesh and made it Wikipedia:WikiProject Bangladesh/History Workgroup. I also have mass migrated the participants from the former project to the new workgroup. May be I was a little too bold here. Forgive me for doing this without consultation. The move was a part of the effort to rehash the entire Bangladesh project. If you and other participants agree, the next step should be deleting the previous page. Seeking opinion from regular editors on reference pattern
References: Notes and citations section; change in reference and notes temporarily ceased; WP:FOOT says I am not doing wrong; Separate Notes and Citation sections
Opinion is sought from regular editors of the article Hinduism regarding the splitting of Notes and references section. This is a short gist of the discussions going on in the above mentioned talk links: Having a separate "Notes" (for explanatory remarks) and "Citations" (for direct citations), although permitted, is relatively rare in Wikipedia, and also in academic journals. The main rationale behind doing this is to distinguish a series of explanatory remarks from the series of citations (please see Rabindranath Tagore, Demosthenes for examples).
This sandbox gives a glimpse of how the article would look if we split the sections (the sandbox is under work, so may not be perfect). This link shows how the article looks with combined section. This may give an idea how it looked when I started working on references. I converted many references to Harvard format, apart from splitting the sections.
Opinion for regular editors are sought regarding the application of splitting of two section for this article. Please do so in Talk:Hinduism in the section Talk:Hinduism#Seeking_opinion_from_regular_editors_on_reference_pattern. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 05:04, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

Svadhyay
Baka, I could use your help in figuring out what to do regarding Svadhyay, which at the moment is blatant advertising for some guru. The content of the page with regard to the historical role of scriptural study is, as far as I can tell, patent nonsense. Svadhyaya, in the basic meaning of scriptural study, is such an old practice it is mentioned as a key discipline in Patanjali's Yoga Sutras. What I think should be done is to get rid of the redirect so that the article is titled Svadhyaya, which is a simple romanization of the Sanskrit rather than the Hindi version, and then I will apply academic references to clean up the content. I notice that you were involved with one edit to the page when it was a stub, and therefore am checking with you to see if you agree with this approach. What do you think? A word with you Baka
Baka, I noticed your post on the crisis among the Indian editors and admins. But let me tell you that you are mistaken about the reason. Firstly, you have to look around and see that the crisis is not endemic to Indians. Whole of Wikipedia is reeling under some yet unassessed crisis. That false pretender crisis looks like the nodal point but there is more to it than that. To be frank, I have been instrumental in this crisis. I don't know if you are a believer in the true sense. Most of the BJP cosmopolitan Mumbaikar backyard of all woods (esp. Bollywood) NRI ABCD Diaspora nostalgia guys are misguided chicken soup in terms of faith. Let me come to the point. You know that famous astrologer in Parappanangadi? I happened to have a meeting with him last year. I was accompanying a friend who wanted him to record the jataka of his son. Panikker was in an affable mood and we talked about his unusual experiences and encounters. At one point in the conversation, I got drawn to his assertions that some mantras of the Atharva veda are so powerful that a proper practitioner sticking to the essential modalities can effect unbelievable real life developments. I am a vacillator between an agnostic and pantheistic believer and to take such tall claims with a pinch of salt. I tried to rubbish his arguments with a sarcastic comment about the prospect of him evoking the mantras against the US President. He had said that people actually came to him to work charms against world figures. A devotee of Amritanandamayi seeking his help to bring down Saibaba was a hilarious story. He just ignored my sarcasma and laconically commented that US President was just a human being. Then I challenged him to work some charms against an institution to which I am inimical. He refused saying he was not a durmanthravadi (black art man). I insisted on his accepting my case as I was a victim of persecution by this institution. I convinced him at some length. Then he meditated for some time and made a suggestion. In his opinion the case was very simple and didn't need any elaborate scheme of mantra prayoga. He advised me to visit a devi temple (where the deity is in the form of Durga satiating on blood) and offer a special pooja there. This pooja, Guruthi it is called, is the major shatrusamhara pooja of the temple. Accordingly, I went to the temple and had this rite performed. The rest is there for you to see.Hardly twoo weeks, the false pretender Essjay crisis. You can't convince white men of this unless they are itching to backpack and wander in India. And that type is almost extinct now. Since this I have become a regular devotee of this deity. You will be surprised to hear of the many crises that went past me without so much as touching me. Of late I have been doing some research on the Keralite school of Indian intellectual domain. Unlike the North Indian Aryan theories which thrive on generalisations and abstract contemplation,the Keralite stream is deeply analytical (to the point of being predominantly mathematical), practising rather than theorising, effective rather than impressionistic etc. Shankaracharyar, Mdahava, Neelanta Somayaji etc. have broken certain very illuminating paths in Indian thought. There is no way you can deny that. I don't need to say that this would work in the case of persons. I am not going to invoke sorcery against any individual, of course. The only instance when I put it to use against a person was rather devastating. DAB who has used more abuses for others than any other editor. See Talk:Utpala where he abused me without any provocation. See Talk:Rgveda (esp. Give a balanced account of Rgvedic dating), where instead of answering any of the points raised by me about his edits, he labelled fictious charges against me. Is Wikipedia his personal property ? Differences must happen in democracies, but DAB does not tolerate dissension and starts abusing even his elders. I was astonished to find the list of abuses on your user page ; I think DAB is much more polite to me than these abusers have been to you ! Now I understand why DAB insisted he was not abusing me, while using terms like insane, silly, crack, etc, for me ; such words are not abuses according to latest international standards of "mainstream scholars". Thanks for reverting Anish's edit. Even when confronted with a source, they gut tries to delete it simply because it doesn't suit his opinion. Hi, I see that there is some disagreement over the Bal Thackeray page and the addition of some quotes to that article. Regarding Bangalore

I just wanted to know the reason for your opposition to the move back to Bangalore, and I mean this in a completely non-hostile way. The thing is, this policy is quite enlightening as to what we should be naming our articles on places. For instance, the "Use English" section says that "English usage is determined by the consensus of its users, not by any government." In fact, in the Examples section, they've given the example of Bombay and Mumbai.

This is not true yet for Bangalore. The new name has not yet entered general Indian usage, leave aside English usage. Because people were objecting to the fact that there's no firm way to check "usage" of a name, I was asking for atleast a government notification. But anyway, you can very well see how things are going on Talk:Bangalore. In light of the aforementioned policy, I just thought that the way an important FA was moved without discussion or consensus was inappropriate, hence the requested move. - I feel that Bangalore doesn't really fall under this definition. This paragraph is geared more towards cities and towns that have two or more local names in different languages, based on the ethnicities that reside there, and where English usage is hard to determine. For Bangalore, it's not difficult to see which name is widely used in the English-speaking world right now. Just my two cents.

Ganesha
Hi Baka, I reverted your recent edit to the lead of this article, and thought I'd stop by to explain the reason.
- The mention of Ganapati in the RV has been discussed in the article itself (see Ganesh#Vedic and epic literature) and the Michael's reference you added also supports the scholarly consensus that the two references to "Ganapati" in RV refer to Brahmanasapati and Indra respectively, and not to Ganesha.
- There is no doubt that theriomorphic images of elephant-faced man appeared as early as 2c BC in India; however most scholarly sources (eg. Krishan; Narain) say that these depictions were independent of the later emergence of Ganesha. Ganesha#Possible influences discusses this briefly (along with the "Mythical Animals in Indian Art" that you had helpfully added earlier) although we have to yet streamline the specific language.
Both these issues are under discussion on the article Talk page and your input would be valued. Btw, we are planning to nominate the article for FAC soon (only the second possible FA of and by the Hinduism project, after Adi Shankaracharya !) and it would be great if you could read through it and provide feedback. Hi, I'd advise you to read reasons cited for changes rather than quickly hitting revert on the RSS page. I have pointed out, very clearly, lack of citation in the socail activities area. I'm copying this here since you obviously haven't bothered to read them. Hope this is reason enough to remove the line - numerous social, service charity (sic), and relief works,"
I dissected the Social Activities section and here are a few changes I was forced to make-
- Sewa Bharati has also collaborated with several relief groups, such as the Catholics Bishops Conference of India to conduct relief operations in the aftermath of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake. Activities included building shelters for the victims, providing food, clothes and medical necessities
- The article from which these details are sourced very clearly explain that the Sewa Bhararti "was ready for the mission and preparing to send relief material to the affected areas". It does not say what or whether any aid was actually given. Also collaboration with the CBCI is misinterpreted.
- In 2006, RSS participated in relief efforts to provide basic necessities such as food, milk and potable water to the people of Surat, Gujarat who were affected by massive floods in the region
- Here the source was The Organiser, a pro RSS mouthpiece. Not reliable by any means.
- The RSS also rendered relief work during the 2001 Gujarat Earthquake and the 2004 Sumatra-Andaman earthquake and the subsequent Tsunami
- The two sources are just links to news articles on the disasters. Not verifiable, therfore invalid.

Rizwanur conversion?
The source says, that Rizwanur wrote in the letter dated 19th September that, "...that I will have to convert to Hinduism, to which I agreed,". He died on 22 September.
Very clear. He agreed to convert. But he did not convert. Had he been converted, there would have been documents (affidavit or something similar) proving the conversion, also the name would probably have been different. And that news bit would been easily available in the media, given the media attention the case has received.
So I think you are over-estimating/extrapolating in this particular case. There is no proof that Rizwanur had converted. So, I am removing that bit from the article. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 02:11, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
