Lake Kyle

Located in the southern region of Zimbabwe in Masvingo Province about 30kms south of the main city center, Lake Kyle is one of the biggest inland and manmade dams in Zimbabwe. It was built in the 1960's to provide irrigation for the farmers in the lowveld, south west in the town of Triangle where the main crop is Sugar cane. There are many dams which feed into Lake Kyle and some of them are Runde river, Shangashe river,Mukurumidzi river. You also find one of the most beautiful recreational parks in Zimbabwe, Lake Kyle Recreational Park. The lake and a 4 800ha game park which is stocked with a variety of animals including white Rhino, Giraffe, Zebra and several species of antelope. Over 270 species of birds have been recorded here. A few kilometers from Lake Kyle, The Great Zimbabwe Ruins which are a testament to the history of a people in Zimbabwe that dates back tens of thousands of years ago. it is a ruined city that was once a capital of Zimbabwe. One of the most prominent features were its walls which are about five meters high and constructed without mortar. Zimbabwe has some of the most unique National Parks in Southern Africa, these include the spectacular Zambezi National Park which is home to the Victoria Falls, and the Lake Kariba Recreation Park teems with wildlife which can be seen from close range by boat.[2]
