Joshua Thomas (August 30, 1776 – October 8, 1853), also known as the Parson of the Islands, was a Methodist preacher and reverend who proselytized in the Chesapeake Bay and Delmarva Peninsula regions.
Early life
editJoshua Thomas was born on August 30, 1776 to Martha Thomas and John Thomas, a sailor and former schoolteacher, in Somerset County, Maryland.[1] His father died when he was a child, and his mother remarried when he was five or six years old.[2]
