Md. Mamun-Ur-Rashid Askari

Assistant Chief, Bangladesh Tariff Commission, Ministry of Commerce, Government of the Peoples' Republic of Bangladesh.

Brief Biography:

Born on 2nd November1977 in the district of Rangpur, Bangladesh. Askari took his B.Sc (Hon’s) and M.Sc from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Islamic University, Kushtia, Bangladesh. He has also obtained PGD (with DG award) in ICT from NAPD, Bangladesh and completed a semester course on Competition Policy and Law from United International University, Bangladesh. He joined Bangladesh Tariff Commission and worked with Trade Remedies Division for five years. He completed some WTO e-training courses with distinction. He has also participated in a number of training programs on TRIPs, Trade Policy Analysis, CGE and other WTO issues. In addition, he has worked on Transit issues of Bangladesh. He has received Australian Leadership Award (ALA) in 2013 under AusAID for fellowship on ‘Capacity Building for Trade, Environment and Sustainable Development in Bangladesh’. At present, he is working with International Cooperation Division of this Commission and dealing with FTA analysis and WTO issues.
