Hi,

Welcome to Wikipedia! There is some general wikipedia welcome which newcomers get, but I don't know how to do that. Instead, I'll just say, 'hi, welcome to the wiki maths pages'! Re character theory, gobs and gobs could be written. But please do browse and search, as there may be some material already out there and not integrated, see, for example character group. Let me know if you have questions. There are other helpful Wikipedians around as well; User:Oleg Alexandrov is quite friendly except if you make mistakes in which case he hits me over the head. linas 04:48, 20 May 2005 (UTC)

Well, so long as he hits you over the head when I screw up, I think that things will go fine for us!

More welcome edit

Here's the requested standard wikipedia {{welcome}}

Welcome!

Hello, Ashsong/Greetings, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!

And Linas is right, I do hit people over the head just like that (well, that when I don't tell them to leave Wikipedia for somewhere else, but that's an old story :-) Oleg Alexandrov 01:41, 21 May 2005 (UTC)

And more edit

A good mathematical resource is also Wikipedia:WikiProject Mathematics and its talk page, which serves as a board to discuss all math-related issues on Wikipedia. There is also a list of participants to sign in. Enjoy! Oleg Alexandrov 17:38, 21 May 2005 (UTC)

By the way, the article character group would need some improvement I think. There is some discussion on its talk page, Talk:character group. Cheers, Oleg Alexandrov 17:38, 21 May 2005 (UTC)
