The significance of Puerto Rican Pottery was two fold. Artistically it was an illustration of Hal Lasky's great talent as a potter/ceramicist, culturally it was the first expressions by native Puerto Rican artisans to express themselves artistically in clay since the time of the Tainos, some three hundred years before. It was also part of the opening salvo in the rapid economic development of the Island by the US after World War II.
