Football Club Goa is an Indian professional football club based in Margao, Goa, that plays in the Indian Super League as one of the eight franchises. The club was established on 24 August 2014 and began their first professional season in October 2014. The club currently plays its home matches at the Fatorda Stadium.
The club's majority owner is Jaydev Mody, the chairman of Delta Corp.[2] The other, minority owners, of the club are Venugopal Dhoot and Virat Kohli. Former Brazilian international Zico is the current head coach of the club. During their first three seasons, Goa have qualified for the finals twice. The made it to the final in 2014 but lost to Chennaiyin 3–2. The defeat lead to one of the biggest controversies in ISL history when former Goa owner, Dattaraj Salgaocar, accused Elano of assault. The result of the controversy lead to both Salgaocar and another co-owner, Shrinivas Dempo, to sell their stakes in the club.
