Bellevue's mayoral office is currently considering a bid to drain the Missouri River. The river would be diverted into a flood plain near Old Towne. This would cause the displacement of many families in the "College Heights" neighborhood. The plan is met by much opposition from for the residence of this neighborhood. It is expected, that if bulit, the lake formed would bring two to three million dollars in tourism to the city.
