The Heritage Buildings Protection Amendment Act 1992 amended the original act to expire 'on the day before the day on which section 3 of the Queensland Heritage Act 1992 commences', leading to the Heritage Buildings Protection Act expiring on 20 August 1992, when the Heritage Committee was replaced by the Queensland Heritage Council.

History

Establishment

The Heritage Committee was constituted as a statutory body under the "Heritage Buildings Protection Act 1990", assuming responsibility for the protection of a number of significant historical buildings listed under the Act. The committee was intended to serve as an interim organisation whose purpose was to prevent any destruction of or damage to the listed historical buildings while a more fully comprehensive heritage Act was in the process of being drafted and implemented.

Abolition

The Heritage Buildings Protection Amendment Act 1992 amended the original act to expire 'on the day before the day on which section 3 of the Queensland Heritage Act 1992 commences', leading to the Heritage Buildings Protection Act expiring on 20 August 1992, when the Heritage Committee was replaced by the Queensland Heritage Council.
