Like all pages, this belongs to the project, so all contributors can edit it. Consider discussing first. Signed comments go on the talk page. Data, links to relevant discussions, anything that doesn't need a sig, all go on this one.

Why this page

edit

This is not a formal discussion and will not be closed as deciding anything.

It has long been foreshadowed that, should NYRM2017 succeed (and of course it did), a further RM would be necessary to decide whether there is a primary topic for New York.

However there are many reasons not to have this immediately. This page is for gathering evidence in the meantime, and other preparations as may arise. Discuss on its talk page.

Evidence

edit

Proposed moratorium

edit

Proposed: A moratorium on RMs and RfCs affecting article names New York however disambiguated. This includes proposals to split, merge and rescope the articles.

It explicitly excludes this page and its talk, which all are free to edit in non-disruptive ways, and allows heads-ups to this page to be posted on the user talk pages of those who express or have expressed in the past an opinion that New York City or some variation of it is the primary topic of New York, without this being seen as canvassing.

The period to be one year from the close of wp:NYRM2017.

Timing

edit

NYRM2017 closed with a standing ovation (;-> at 10:53, 19 July 2017.

A year later is of course July 2018.
