We started on de:Benutzer Diskussion:Andreas -horn- Hornig/Bildwerkstatt a think tank for discussing and creating pictures for television articles.
For expanding the discussion, I start this page and present some of our pics in the English Wikipedia to get some reaction from you guys.
You can participate either here or on my german discussion page where it all started.
HDTV
edit
It seems good, but you are missing one key difference: HDTV's aspect ratio is 16:9, not 4:3. Otherwise it illustrates this topic perfectly.

- hi thewikipedian, i know that, but i did not use it, because my 16:9 fish experiment looked stupid. so i decided to use this neraly 4:3 aspect ratio. just consider it as a part of an 16:9 pic, just zoomed on to it. i am pondering, if i should create 720p resolution pic including the 40x46 sqaures pics in original pixel on that image and a ntsc rsolution pic including the 20x23 squares fish in it. so it will be obvious, that is just a small area of a bigger image. what about that? greets, --Andreas -horn- Hornig 22:19, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
Like it. I think I might be able to integrate it in the HDTV article, but I'm not sure the overlay image is needed. -- ABostrom 20:58, August 28, 2005 (UTC)
Perhaps use 16:9 instead of 16/9. Also, × instead of x. -- ABostrom 21:05, August 28, 2005 (UTC)
- hi, i sugested this kind of block for these pics
- hi, i sugested in the german wiki to use some kind of block for these pics, to make clear, that these pictures are explaining the same issue. is it better to use a * (multiplication mark) and 16:9 because it is more common in englisch speaking areas? greets, --Andreas -horn- Hornig 22:04, 28 August 2005 (UTC)
- I mean × (cross), not * (asterisk) or x (the letter). It's what is used in the text on the HDTV page. -- ABostrom 19:08, August 29, 2005 (UTC)
I would like to see a new image like the comparison image (except above comment) but using 4:3 aspect ratios and the resolutions from the Videores.png image. That is, 640×480, 720×576, 1280×720, 1920×1080. These two new images could then replace the Videores.png image and provide a clear comparison of SDTV and HDTV at both 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratio. That it, separate Videores.png into two images. -- ABostrom 19:08, August 29, 2005 (UTC)
- hi, is that more of interest to you de:Bild:TV-Normen international.png (it is still in the german wikipedia, but user Sjr will defenetly upload it into the commons). Sjr is pondering about the name of the 16:9 ntsc signal, he things, that decoder is a good name, but i thing it is 480p or ntsc anamorph, but we both are not sure. we lack of such english tv terminology terms. so could you please help us? thx, --Andreas -horn- Hornig 20:01, 30 August 2005 (UTC)
- hi ABostrom, both images are now in the commons. grreets, --Andreas -horn- Hornig 18:04, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

DLP
editI'm not sure if this is where you talk, but I uploaded that pic for you. --Igdrasa
- hi, hmm, does not matter, where we talk :D. this page is meant to be for discussing my selfmade pics, but it is also good fore somebody elses pics :). but I think, I was a little bit faster than you and uploaded it here Image:DLP projector rainbow effect DLP Projektor Regenbogeneffekt.JPG into the commons, because I did not want to wait any longer. so I decided to do it myself. Therefore I added the "NowCommons" sign on you pic in the en.wiki. I hope you do not mind me doing this!
- ah, I just found your pic Image:DLP rainbow effect.JPG. I think, 2 versions of the same pic would be a waste of commons' space, so we should decide, which to keep. Allmost each pic, I uploaded for others into the commons, I slightly changed the names and translated the summary into german. So I added the German translation also in the filename and in the summary on the pic's page, and also put it in a category. So would you mind me telling an admin to delete your upload there and just update the transcription (you edited yours) to "my uploaded"? greets, --Andreas -horn- Hornig 07:27, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
