Introduction The Bad Wife is an old classic Russian wonder tale first adapted by W.R.S Ralston’s ‘Russian Folk-Tales’ translated by Aleksandr Afanas’ev Nikolaevich’s Russian Folktales'’ in 1916. This traditional fairy tale features a stubborn wife, a miserable husband, and an imp, a very popular figure in folklore representing small demons. This tale is significant because it diverted from the traditional gender roles of Russia and has inspired similar stories to be passed down. This story is also significant as it may have inspired many adaptations and works later on.
