After being in a few different roles in the Office of Communications & Marketing, Allison Matherly finds herself in the role of Coordinator of Digital Engagement and serves as community manager of the Texas Tech social media channels. She also handles the Emergency Communications Center and TechA!ert system, and develops content for various web presences across campus.
Previously, Allison has been in many different functions of the office. She started as a Media Relations Intern, moved on to a PR in New Media Intern, and found herself working full time before graduation as the Web Content Developer and Writer when she developed content for Texas Tech Today Daily News, the monthly e-newsletter, as well writing features. After that she began handling media relations, and finding new and improved ways to increase coverage through new media channels. Needless to say she's worn quite a few hats in her short career.
Allison is a May 2010 graduate of Texas Tech with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations, and a minor in American Sign Language, and one of the biggest Red Raider fans you’ll ever meet. She is currently working on her Master of Arts in Mass Communications, within the College of Media and Communication. She enjoys learning about social media and how it is changing the world of communications as a whole. The Sugar Land native is an avid Twitter and Facebook user, explores other social networking websites and also writes a blog.
When not taking the world of social media by storm, Allison enjoys spending time with her husband and their four pets, and balancing her extremely digital life with some old-fashioned knitting and crocheting.
