- Tomgirls of the Mountains: Josou Sanmyaku (女装山脈) is the first game in the series, and was released on June 17, 2011, by Nounai Kanojo.[1][2] It follows the mountaineer Ikuto, who seeks shelter from a storm in an isolated mountain village where it is customary for young men to cross-dress. This began after a plague killed many young men, to prevent plague gods from doing it again.[2]
- Josou Kaikyou (女装海峡, "Cross-Dressing Strait") was released on May 31, 2013, by Nounai Kanojo.[3]
- Josou Gakuen (Nin) (女装学園(妊), "Cross-Dressing Academy (Pregnancy)") was released on September 27, 2014, by Nounai Kanojo.[4]
- Kyuukatsu o Josou Suru (久闊を女装する, "Cross-Dressing in Absentia") was released on March 14, 2016, by No Strike.[5][6]

- Trap Shrine (女装神社, Josou Jinja) is the first game in the Shrine (神社, Jinja) sub-series,[1] and was released on March 29, 2019, by Eroge Japan. It follows Masato, who is trying to keep his family's failing shrine running as fewer people travel to it. Meanwhile, his friend Mishiro and the shrine's deity Himegami-no-Mikoto, both of whom are cross-dressers, compete for his attention.[8]
- Trap Legend (女装神話, Josou Shinwa) is the second game in the Shrine sub-series,[1] and was released on July 19, 2020, by Eroge Japan.[9]
- Trap Genesis (女装創世記, Josou Souseiki) is the third and planned final game in the Shrine sub-series, and was released on September 28, 2021, by Eroge Japan.[1]
- Josou Series Eikyuuhozon Pack (女装シリーズ永久保存パック, "Cross-Dressing Series Permanent Preservation Pack") is a compilation collecting the entire series up until Trap Genesis. It was released on June 24, 2022, by No Strike.[10]
- Trap Yuri Garden (女装百合畑, Josou Yuribatake)[11][12][13]
Development
editThe series is written by Hajime Nishida, who is personally a fan of cross-dressing and otokonoko.[14] The first three games were developed at Nounai Kanojo; starting with Kyuukatsu o Josou Suru in 2016, the series has been developed by No Strike.[10]
Trap Shrine was released after a decline in domestic sales for Japanese erotic games, which necessitated an international release and led the publisher to release it simultaneously in Japanese, Chinese, and English, and for Nishida to personally present the game at game events in China.[14]
Trap Genesis was developed as a finale to the Shrine sub-series, and as a commemoration of the series' ten-year anniversary.[1]
Reception
editTomgirls of the Mountain won the silver prize in the 2011 Getchu Bishoujo Game Awards in the Best Subject category,[2] and Josou Gakuen (You) was Spa!'s recommended erotic video game of 2016.[15]
Trap Shrine was a commercial success internationally, with nearly half of copies sold in the first two month being bought by Chinese players,[16] followed by 18% sold to American players, and 12% to Japanese players.[17] Commenting on the simultaneous international release of Trap Shrine, Japanese pop culture website Otapol said that they had not been aware until then that there was a worldwide audience for otokonoko media, having only seen it as an interest among a core fanbase in Japan, and saw Trap Shrine as symbolizing a new hope for the erotic video game industry in Japan.[14]
