Hi.I was User:AlexBartlett4 but was away from Wikipedia for a few months. When I returned, my computer had forgotten my password, and I had never bothered remembering it myself. This time I have one I'll remember, an ancestor.

I believe that Wikipedia is one of the most important 'inventions' of the 21st century. It is often my first port of call on the web. I don't edit a lot, but I maintain List of prolific inventors, and do a smattering of edits on other pages, mostly relating to inventors or inventions. My sincere thanks to all Wikipedia editors for creating this fantastic resource.

Inventors to watch

edit

The list below relates to List of prolific inventors, which I maintain on an (almost) regular basis. As many of the inventors listed are still actively inventing, their patent counts constantly change. List of prolific inventors contains a list of inventors with 300 or more patent families. There are a number of inventors who are either close to 300 U.S. utility patents, or are rapidly rising in patent count, and could therefore exceed 300 patents soon. Alternatively, they may need to be included if the cutoff level for inclusion in the list is lowered. I have also included a few historically famous inventors. These inventors are tracked in the list below. The two columns are included to estimate the rate of increase:

Note that this list is quite incomplete. I will add to it as I find more information. The high rate of invention has been determined from the large number of pending patents, more than the number of granted patents. Many of the names are derived from a list published on the web by Patentdocs, titled "top 100 inventors", which does not list granted patents, but lists patent applications filed over the last few years. Others were derived from the last list of prolific inventors published by the USPTO, back in 1997.[29]. Others have been derived from annual lists published at strutpatent.com.
