St. Bernard Parish is a Roman Catholic Parish in Peoria, IL. In 1901, the parish purchaed land in the East Bluff neighborhood of Peoria (pjstar.com). The Church was dedicated two years later on September 23, 1903, and a convent and school opened the following year. The church is located at 509 East Kansas St., and the school and convent are directly across the street (parishesonline.com). The school opened with 30 students and only two teachers. The church underwent multiple remodellings, the most recent in 2003. St. Bernard's Men's Club holds a Fish Fry on every Friday during lent and the Mother's Club held an annual Bazaar every November. The school celebrated it's 100 year anniversary in June of 2004. Sadly, the school closed that same year. St. Bernard church remains open and holds mass weekdays at 8:45 AM, Saturdays at 4:30 PM, and Sundays at 8:00 and 10:30 AM (catholicweb.com).
