Esoteric healing is based on Alice Bailey's Ageless Wisdom teachings, as relayed by her Tibetan Master, Djwhal Khul.

Esoteric healers typically base their work on Bailey's five-volume series, Treatise on the Seven Rays. The fourth book in the series, Esoteric Healing,[1]. Esoteric Healing is a branch of healing and spiritual healing that emphasizes the spiritual growth and advancement of a human being[2]. But faith is not a necessity to practice esoteric healing. It is a branch of healing that works with the soul. However, esoteric healing can also be employed for sick animals, plants, groups, businesses, cities, nations, the planet, viz. virtually anything that is deemed to have become disharmonious, dis-eased, can be given esoteric healing. But healing may only be given by an esoteric healing practitioner or group of esoteric healing practitioners if it is asked for by the individual. Practitioners of esoteric healing usually undertake a three year training with the International Network of Esoteric Healing (which is a registered charity [No. 1032492] in UK). To give healing to children their parent or guardian must give permission. But healing sent to cities, peoples, nations and the planet at any time to promote peace and spiritual growth is usually given by a group during a meditation or after a training session led by a teacher of esoteric healing.

Esoteric healing considers disease to be the result of the deflection of soul energy passing through the mental energies (causing mental diseases), or emotional (astral) energies (causing emotional diseases) or physical energies (causing physical illness). This misappropriation of soul energy can be correctly aligned by the soul of the person through meditation and other techniques or by an esoteric healer. But healing only occurs when the soul of the patient allows it.

Esoteric healing recognizes many levels of energy as taught by theosophy and anthroposophy. Seven types of energy are said to emanate from the soul. These are downgraded by the chakras or energy centers on the different levels of consciousness until they reach the physical organism via the endocrine glands. Esoteric healing practitioners are trained to work with these energy types using their mind, ajna center (center between the eyes) and hands. These energies can be directed by the esoteric healer to different locations or levels, changed, released, stimulated, relaxed or balanced. There is a regular use of "triangles" is esoteric healing. This is a method of rebalancing energies in a particular area of the sevenfold energy system of the human being. Triangles usually but not always involve a major center, a minor center and a minute center. Minute centers are similar to the system of acupuncture points.

Esoteric healing involves an understanding of the seven rays as they are related to the constitution of the human being (physical body, emotional (astral) body, mental body or intellect and abstract mind, intuition, and two higher levels (monadic and divine) (see Alice Bailey for constitution of man).

Esoteric healing requires the practitioner to know about the organs and systems and glands of the human organism. The esoteric healer must train to become sensitive to subtle energy and be able to interpret it as a form of diagnosis. This requires regular meditation and practical exercises. Esoteric healing treatment is based on this diagnosis. And just as disease can be cured by the addition of good nutrition and extra vitamins and minerals in the diet, so esoteric healing emphasizes what it calls the vitalization of the patient before an esoteric healing treatment. Esoteric healing may be used in the treatment of all diseases.

Esoteric healing has five stages: A. Alignment (the healer connects with her soul) and attunement (the healer connects with the soul of the patient). B. Diagnosis (the healer objectively assesses the health and balance of the centers). C. Vitalization (the healer improves the energetic environment in the bodies of the patient). D. Esoteric healing treatment (this is the main stage of activity in the esoteric healing method). E. Closing the esoteric healing treatment[3].

It is usual that during the treatment the esoteric healer does not touch the physical body of the patient. A treatment usually lasts for about 30 minutes.
