Article Evaluation

I chose to evaluate the article titled "American Indian boarding schools."

The article did not have any obvious bias and remained overall objective. It is a pretty long and thorough article, comprised of many facts about the history of Native Americans in boarding schools. One thing I do have to say is that it could include more details of the Native Americans' experience in these schools as it is pretty concise. I would also suggest the author add a section about the impact these schools had on the Indigenous nation.

The talk page of this article included some pretty insightful comments and suggestions, including some about structure and organization as well as some about content. I think it would be worthwhile for the composer of the article to incorporate some of the comments into the article.

  • There is no Wikipedia article for this specific artwork. There is a Wikipedia article for the artist, Judy Baca. The article mentions the mural briefly — in just four sentences as a part of a subsection. These four sentences are not enough to encapsulate the essence of this mural. Thus, I think there should be an entire article dedicated to it.
• A specific American Indian boarding school in California (unknown which one yet)
  • The Wikipedia article "American Indian boarding schools" is a good article, although I do not feel it is complete. The article briefly touches on many points, but does not give enough context or explanation. This article could be further improved by explaining more thoroughly specifically why these schools were created and what their purpose was. It also needs to explain in more detail the indigenous people's experiences in these school and how they were treated and abused. Furthermore, I think this article should explain the impact that these schools caused and how that affected the entire nation. At the end of the article, there is simply a long list of boarding schools. However, I think there should be information about particular boarding schools and even entirely new articles about some of them.

  • As of now, the Crazy Horse article only has quotes. I plan to add a lot to this article. I will create sections about his life, battles he fought in, his ultimate defeat, his legacy, the memorial, and more. This is an insufficient article about such a prominent chief, warrior, and leader.
