Hi I am Alan, Born in Forbes NSW in 1952, my father, a teacher. Our family moved to Sydney in 1958. After failing Maths and Physics at Sydney Uni, my first job was in electronics soldering up bio-medical equipment. At that time I was keenly interested in Amateur Radio. I acquired a "Limited License" or a "Z" call as it was known. So VHF was, what I could use so VHF it was with ex. taxi radio equipment from the early 1960s. I had done some computer programming at uni so I was also interested in microprocessors. When I was introduced to MP/M, a multi-user version of CP/M and later Digital's TSX coming from RT11, I could see multi-user or multi-task operating systems were the future. This was in the early 1980s. As I put it, my last "real" job was as a System Administrator of large Unix systems in data centres in Sydney.

I married in 1999.

The 2007 economic crash happened, the company I was working for got sold, I lost in the 25% staff trim. The end of my career. I'm now retired.

Meanwhile, my interest in Amateur Radio continues. Recognising the need for Repeater Maintenance, having been in a club executive, I explore the technology.

I see Wikipedia as a way to pass on my knowledge. I want to add to Project:Amateur Radio => Repeaters => Duplexers, knowledge that is useful. Useful to be able to

understand the technology. eg. see Laser Printers.
