Biography

edit

Al-'Ijli was born in Kufa during the period of Harun al-Rashid's rule, but was raised in Baghdad. In 197 AH, at the age of fifteen, he started to receive formal education in hadith studies. He later departed from Baghdad to Tripoli, possibly because of the events surrounding the Mihna, where he lived until his death.
