Peri Sreerama Murty was born to Sri. Peri Subba Rao and Smt. XXX in the year YYYY at Kakinada, East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh. He is a child prodigy and a leading violin genius from Andhra Pradesh. He developed a style of his own, later recognized as "Peri Style", which is being continued even today by his son and his disciples. He has earned a unique stature as Solo Violinist as well as Violin accompanist in South India Classical Music. Sree Rama Murthy is ‘A’ top grade violinist of A.I.R. He has performed at many prestigious concerts in India as well as abroad. Apart from his personal excellence, he has steered many students as professional violinists.

A child prodigy in Violin, born in a family of musicians at Kakinada in Andhra thPradesh in the year 1955 May 5 . His father and Guru Peri Subba Rao, a popular Violin Artiste of Andhra Pradesh having identified his taste and talent in Violin, initiated and encouraged him to pursue and master the art. Peri Sree Rama Murty gave his maiden concert at the age of 9 at the Government College of Music and Dance at Hyderabad. He won a number of prizes in various music competitions. Way back in 1978 he won the best junior accompanist award in the Madras Music Academy.

The traditional Violin proficiency vocation of the famous ‘Dwaram’ family in Andhra Pradesh in recent times is discerned in the ‘Peri’ family. He has systematically nurtured this style from the music taught by his father. This élan style is continued even today by his son and his students. This style has earned him an unparalleled position as a violinist amongst his contemporaries. Sri Peri Sree Rama Murty started giving solo violin concerts from 1980 onwards All over India and Abroad Successfully.

He also had given number of violin duet concerts along with his GURU, Father Sri Peri Subba Rao Garu from the year 1985 to 2000. His versatility lies in adhering to the accompaniment dharma during accompani- ment by adopting to the style to the lead vocalist, and at the same time maintaining his own style during solo Ragalapana's, Neraval's, Swarakalpana's etc. This made him an exponent in Carnatic music amongst his contemporaries. Violin Trio concerts by 3 Generations of one family (Grand father, Father & Son) are rare and occasional. In Carnatic music Sri Peri Sree Rama Murty VIOLIN TRIO has acquired a unique place since 2000. Sri Peri Subba Rao (Father) Sri Peri Sree Rama Murty and Sri Peri Thyagaraju (Son) have given nearly number of concerts with pleasing Audients.

Sri Peri Sree Rama Murty's childhood accompaniments were very much appreciated. He has performed for stalwarts like Voleti Venkateswarulu, Kum. Srirangam Gopala Ratnam, Nookala Chinna Satyanarayana etc. His accompaniment has earned a very special place in South Indian Carnatic Music. He sets standards for an accompanying artist and has very well defined how the art of accompaniment should be displayed. Sri Peri Sree Rama Murty not only performs in his own style, but blends with the styles of the artistes he is accompanying with expertise. Whenever he is accompanying a vocalist, he would display the same vocal style or for that matter display the various styles of the artistes he is accompanying. He has a perfect balance between his solo performances and accompaniments, two strikingly different components of a violinist which is the greatness of this violin vidwan. Legends like Padma Bhushan Dr. Sripada Pinakapanigaru, Padma Vibhushan Sri. Bala Murali Krishna garu, Padma Bhushan Sri Nokala Chinna Satynarayana garu, Sangeetakalanidhi Sri Nedunoori Krishna Murthy garu, Sri Anavarapu Ramaswami garu have themselves praised and proclaimed that it is Sri Peri Sree Rama Murty who has reached the Zenith of accompaniment. Needless to say his violin speaks for him.

What the press says edit

  • THE HINDU:
  • INDIAN EXPRESS:
  • TIMES OF INDIA
  • THE STATESMAN :
  • DECCAN CHRONICLE:
  • NEWS TIME:

Peri Sree Rama Murty came out with his own versions of Todi and Kharaharapriya playing the Melodies with the same tenor as the main Artists (Shri K.V. Narayana Swamy) rendition. I Peri Sree Rama Murty has been the first choice among the Violinists for the past decade and half. Besides accompanying almost every singer and instrumentalist visiting the State, he has been invited for concerts beyond its borders and across the seas. His alertness and sense of proportion have earned him accolades from both fellow artistes as well as listeners. : PeriSreeramamurty's accompaniment was easily among the best Violinists we have today. He has all the merit to make it to the top.

PeriSreeramamurty was at his best on the violin and his answer to Shanmukhapriya Ragalapaiana brought to the fore his mettle. Peri Sree Rama Murty developed his following to such a nicety that he echoed very little beauty and nuance letout by Dr. Bala Murali Krishna with Micro- Sensitive precision. His solo of Purvi Kalyani was every bit a perfect match and it should be said that Peri did hold his own against a veteran of Dr. Bala Murali's stature. Peri Sree Rama Murty on the violin never ran short of ideas. The ease and the confidence he displays prove that he is as good as any leading violinist in the south and can be equal to the best.
