The Government Performance and Results Act does not have how it has been necessarily used during all this period that it has existed. It is missing many important information that could be useful. There is a brief definition of what it is and what it protects. Many of the sources are correct. Even though many sources are correct it seems to have too many sources that repeat the information. It is more informative it does not seem to have any argument going on There is some information that is very jumpy. It has random facts but it does not have a timeline that will help you understand the concept of the subject. I believe the information that it has can be helpful to make it a well constructed page but it still needs plenty of information. It needs updated information of what it is doing today and how it has been changing throughout the years. By the information presented you can see that it is an important subject that helps people in the workforce understand what it is doing for them and how it contributes to the performance of the organizations that the government is involved in.

The Impact of the Government Performance Results Act (GPRA) on Two State Cooperative Extension Systems is an article that explains a research done where it involves people with job responsibilities. This research being done is trying to show how evaluation expectation changes through GRPA. The research also is trying to find how Cooperative Extension and defining accountability. It also mentions what new policies resulted from the Government Performance Act. This helps our group understand the Government Performance Act better in a way that other people have seen it and how they interpret it. They give as an overview of how their research showed the overall impact of the Government Performance and Results Act. This source was found in the Journal of Extension website.

The article The Implementation of the Government Performance and Results Act of 1993 is a source that introduces the GRPA with specific facts. It maintains a well-organized structure of the introduction of the act for example who was the president when the law was signed. It also gives a precise description of what the Act does and why was it made a law. It also gives the early background of what it was and how it changed before it became a law. This also gives us some points about the status of the Government Performance and Results Act. This helps us to get more information for our Wikipedia page. This breaks it down for our group to understand it carefully and be able to construct it with all these little pieces of information.

The National Council on Disability has information about the Government Performance Results Act and what changes happened throughout the years. It is very precise information. Each annual report starts with a letter to the president summarizing the years change. This is also helpful to our group because the changes are broken down by years and each year has their own report making it easier to go through the changes and comparing how it has changed from then to now. These reports are also very helpful to see how personal they can be. The names of people who were involved are listed in each report.

He also points out all the benefits that the Government Performance and Results Act brought.He explains how these benefits can help solve some of the problems that congress has. This will help our group get a different perspective from someone who teaches and we would be able to have a better understanding.

  • The Government Performance Act was signed by President Clinton August 3, 1993.
  • The GPRA was not used right away until the year 1999. From the time the Act was signed they focused on collecting data and get everything ready for the following fiscal year.\
  • The fiscal year always starts October first and end September 30 of the following year.   
  • Before GPRA was made in the 1960s there was another act trying to be made and it was called the Program, Planning and Budgeting System. This program was one of the branches relating to the GRPA.

Purposes of the Act

This act was established to gain trust of American people that government will be held accountable for all programs results to be achieved.

  • Keeping up with all the goals that the government is setting and eventually beat those first goals.
  • This Act helps Congress to be able to amend, suspend, or establish the final result of each fiscal year.
  • Improve the performance of all federal effectiveness.
  • Overall improve the Federal Government.

  • One of the most important moderations done to the act was in 2010.
  • In this new moderation they wanted to get rid of unnecessary reporting.
  • Making sure to get rid of all the duplicative information of years before.

Last two sentences: The last two statements in the GPRA wiki page are statements on when the president signed the GPRA into law and how the OMB is tied to the GPRA. We believe this is where the article could be expanded by adding more information about the function of the GPRA on agencies, how agencies like the GAO are tied into the GPRA, shortcomings of the GPRA that made it necessary for GPRAMA, and congresses part in the formation of the bill.

Revision plan:

Add information on the GAO’s part in the execution of the GPRA. Expand the definition of the role of the OMB in the GPRA. Expand the definition of the need for the GPRAMA instead of stating that it followed the GPRA. Add the Who, what, when, where of the legislative formation of the bill that the president signed.

The wikipedia GPRA article is clear and concise information. Our plan is to expand the idea’s already stated. We are also adding more headings of information that will be useful to understand the concept of the Act. We plan on adding heading that contain information like what are the purposes of the act and how when the application of the act is right. We are also including some information about the congressional oversight of the act.

Problems: The biggest problem we will have is evaluating if our added information helps or hinders the article. We want to add helpful information without diluting the article as a whole by added unnecessary information. Another problem we foresee is the making sure the sources we cite are done properly and help future article editors. We hope that our edits will help future edits to expand the article.
