This is an attempt to index edit summaries used on reverts. These are all genuine edit summaries I noticed on Recent Changes; the user mentioned is pretty much a matter of chance and who was online at the time. I have not checked any of these reverts to see if they were genuine and/or useful, just looked for revert-like summaries on Recent Changes pages by eye. I'm collecting this information to try to improve my edit counter. Edits marked 'rm' aren't counted, as that's a common abbreviation for non-revert removal of information. I may have made mistakes on this list. The reverts are written in copy-and-paste plain text, not in wikimarkup, and diffs are provided (for verfication and to provide GFDL history; it would be a bit silly to cause a copyvio by illegally copying an edit summary!)

Random samples

edit

This list consists of:

  • all reverts on a 250-entry Recent Changes page with the last edit at 10:35, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
  • all reverts on a 250-entry Recent Changes page with the last edit at 10:47, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

except for exact duplicate edit summaries or bot/script/rollback summaries from the same template as others I've recorded (for instance, there is only one sort of summary produced by admin rollback).

By User:Subhash bose, [10]
(rv is the start of the name of the section, so presumably this is the addition of information in that section with no edit summary rather than a revert. I'm sticking to my policy of not reading any of the edits discovered in this sample, so I don't know for sure.)

Looking for reverts done by particular tools

edit

These reverts were found by checking the contribs of the tool's creators, in most cases. (It's not entirely clear who came up with admin rollback!) For instance, User:AmiDaniel's contribs were checked to find a VandalProof revert. The tools are listed in alphabetical order. If you know of a vandal-fighting tool not listed here, feel free to add a sample revert-summary to the list. Most of these tools have a link in their edit summaries, and in these cases the link is added here to show which tool was used.

This edit summary is identical to the admin rollback in use at the time, except that the neither user was linked (the admin rollback linked the second user).

VandalProof and VP2

(User:AmiDaniel/VandalProof, WP:VPRF, WP:VP2) Note that VandalProof is also capable of using admin-rollback, and many of its edits appear to be admin-rollback edits.

It seems that VandalProof edit summaries have changed a lot; the best way to detect them seems to be to look for the word 'Reverted' at the start of the edit summary (later for a page-move revert), and a link to WP:VPRF, WP:VP2, or User:AmiDaniel/VandalProof.
