Anna I Esparcia-Alcázar is an Electrical Engineer from the Universitat Politècnica de Valencia (Spain) and a PhD from the University of Glasgow (UK). She has published extensively in the field of evolutionary computation and has served in the programme committees of the main conferences in the area, including as General Chair of GECCO 2015. Since January 2017 she is part of the editorial board of the Genetic Programming and Evolvable Machines journal. She is currently Vice-President of the Society for the Promotion of Evolutionary Computation in Europe and Surroundings, SPECIES. In 2015 she received the EvoStar Award for Outstanding Contribution to Evolutionary Computation in Europe
