Evolving Beings is a free monthly online magazine which contains a variety of articles that discuss spirituality and how spirituality can lead to self-empowerment and enrichment in a person's everyday lifestyle. Articles for this magazine are primarily written by Evita Ochel, though other bloggers and spiritual pioneers are able to submit articles for free. Topics of discussion in this magazine also include Bhuddism, Shamanism, and different tips on how to practice personal spiritual enrichment through Meditation and personal reflection.

History edit

Evolving Beings was created in January 2008 by Evita Ochel. It's goal was, "...to raise the global consciousness on the planet, help others awaken, and rise up to live life from their highest version – love and peace...[and]...to help transition others through the changes that are taking place on our planet today."[1] Ochel's original creation was a blog which was formed from her personal passion for spiritual enrichment, which came about after her spiritual "awakening" which occurred in 2005.[2] This awakening occurred as a personal revelation which allowed Ochel to connect herself more deeply with the dichotomy of the physical and the spiritual realms. With this knowledge she altered the way she lived, and she began to refer to herself as a "being," removing herself from distinction above nature and the environment.[3] Evolving Beings and Evolving Wellness were created as blogs following this spiritual awakening because Ochel decided that it was important to share her experience with others. From an interview by Simon Hay:

"There is no set agenda to achieve through the sites, other than to share my knowledge and be of service to anyone who is looking to feel, see, and live the bigger picture of life. We don’t have to be victims to disease, our circumstances, or other people. Suffering need not be a normal part of life. My intention is that whoever comes across the sites benefits in some way, such as awakens a little more, heals a little deeper, embraces their being more authentically, and lives life from a more fully conscious state of being."[4]

Evolving Beings has now evolved into a free monthly online magazine to which users may subscribe, though it is not clear when this shift occurred. Its goal now, as well of the goals of its sister sites (Evolving Wellness,Evolving Scenes), is to constantly reach out to people and provide them with useful information so that they may awaken from the burdens of the stress and emotional pains of their lives into true peace and happiness.[5] The magazine has over 30 regularly contributing authors, including psycologists, psycotherapists, and spiritual healers.

Modern Spirituality edit

The spirituality which is discussed in Evolving Beings is based upon the idea of dualism, meaning the dualism of the physical and the spiritual. Historically, this concept has been applied to opposites: light and dark, good and evil, etc. These opposites exist simultaneously, in accordance with one another. However, the physical and the spiritual, while falling under the idea of traditional dualism, existed in separate realms. Modern spiritual thought suggests that the dualism of physical and spiritual existence has shifted. Matter and Spirit were considered separate because one was visible while the other was not. With the onset of electricity and the discovery of atoms, human beings know that not all matter is visible, leading many to believe that not all parts of the Spirit are invisible.[6] This blurs the line between Matter and Spirit, allowing for the simultaneous existence of both within the same realm. This belief is what drove Evita Ochel's awakening experience, as well as what provides for a majority of the subject matter in Evolving Beings.
