My academic and professional background is in prehistoric British and European archaeology and the archaeology of the Roman Empire. I have published extensively on Roman art and material culture, especially on jewellery, silverware and certain classes of Roman pottery. I have a more general interest in, and knowledge of, museum curatorship, many aspects of European art and archaeology, history, zoology and language.

Articles edit

I am new to Wikipedia editing, so I stood on the sidelines, but took part a good deal in the discussion, as the multi-author article on the Hoxne hoard was put together in July-August 2010.

This encouraged me to have a go at expanding and improving the content and references in the articles on the Mildenhall Treasure and the Thetford treasure, though both of these could still benefit from further work.

I was then side-tracked into what was at the time a small article on Ancient Roman pottery, and have added substantially to it. It will continue to grow. So will the one on Terra sigillata, cross-referenced to the Roman pottery one.

I have not yet embarked on a general Ancient Roman Jewellery article, but will start planning it soon.
