In 1956, Ətayə Əliyeva returned to the M.Fuzuli named Azerbaijan State Academic Drama Theatre. Here, she performed in plays by both classic and contemporary Azerbaijani dramatists, as well as in translated works[4]. Roles like Pəri (in "Pəri Cadu"), Sona (in "Hacı Qara"), Fatmanisə (in "Ölülər"), Validə (in "İliç buxtası"), Nəzakət (in "Sən həmişə mənimləsən"), Rəfiqə (in "Yalan"), Məlahət (in "İkinci səs"), and many others were among her later performances[4].

Ətayə Əliyeva also performed in radio and television broadcasts and in cinema. She appeared in various roles in films produced by the Jafar Jabbarly named "Azərbaycanfilm" film studio, such as "Bizim küçə" (1961) as "Bəyim xala", "Dağlarda döyüş" (1967) as "mother", "Telefonçu qız" (1962) as "Simuzər", "Uşaqlığın son gecəsi" (1968) as "Mənsurə". In Rza Tahmasib's 1959 film "Onu bağışlamaq olarmı?", she played two roles, "Lieutenant Qarayeva" and "Sara xala"[1].
