User:Aether7/Recurring characters in the Fire Emblem series

This is a list of fictional recurring characters in the Fire Emblem series, organized alphabetically within the setting in which they appear. Characters in this article have notable recurring roles in the series, while a full list of characters from specific games can be found using the navigation menu at the right. For more information about the game series itself, see the main article.

There are a number of games set on the same continent that are typically linked through the overarching storyline, character development and relationships. Each continent is thought to exist in its own separate universe with its own incarnation of the Fire Emblem. As such, most characters do not travel to other continents; one exception being Anna who makes an appearance in almost every Fire Emblem game. A number of characters in this article also make an appearance in the Super Smash Bros. (series).

Characters in Archanea edit

The setting for the games Ankoku Ryū to Hikari no Tsurugi, Monshou no Nazo and Shadow Dragon' is the fictional continent of Archanea, which is divided into nine nations. They are Akaneia, Altea, Gra, Talys, Aurelis, Grust, Khadein, Medon and Doluna.

Marth edit

Characters in Jugdral edit

The fictional continent of Jugdral is the setting for the games Seisen no Keifu and Thracia 776. It is composed of eight kingdoms: Grandbell, Verdane, Miletos District, Manster District, Thracia, Agustria, Silesia, Yied Desert, and Isaac.

Celice edit

Celice (セリス, Serisu) was chronologically born in Agustria (of Grandbellian heritage) between Chapter 2 and 3 of the game Seisen no Keifu. During his infancy, his mother Diadora was captured by Manfloy, leaving him without a mother. Eventually, as Sigurd approached Barhara, Celice was sent into Isaac under the protection of Oifaye and Shanan. He was also raised by Adean, who acted a surrogate mother.

Celice was taught how to fight by Shanan, and grew up with several other children, including Delmud, Lester, Lana, Skasaha and Lakche. As son of Diadora, Celice has two half-siblings: Julius and Julia. He doesn't know at first, but at a certain point of the game Levin tells him. In Isaac, the citizens claim Celice the Prince of Light while calling the Prince of the Empire, Julius, the Prince of Darkness.

In the midquel Thracia 776, as the exiled prince of Grandbell, and the son of Sigurd and Diadora. He leads a liberation army at Isaac and begins to overthrow the Empire's rule.

Fin edit

Fin (フィン, Fin)A Lenster Knight and Cuan's apprentice. In Seisen no Keifu Cuan guides Fin through the first half of the game. Fin has the skills Pursuit and Prayer. His treasured weapon is a Hero Lance awarded to him by Cuan. He is also the only character who fights in both Sigurd's tale and Celice's tale. In the midquel Thracia 776 Fin raises Cuan's son Leaf and Lachesis's daughter Nanna, and acts as their father figure. He is a mythological reference to the Irish mythological character Fionn mac Cumhail.

Leaf edit

Leaf (リーフ, Riifu) is the Prince of Lenster, and son of Cuan and Ethlin. After the fall of Lenster, he and Nanna escape and are raised by Finn. After hiding at several cities in Thracia, such as Alster and Tahra, Leaf finally settles down at a small village called Fiana. He eventually inherits the Light Sword from his late mother, Ethlin. He is defending his home of Lenster under Blume's attack when Celice comes to help him. Leaf is the hero of Fire Emblem: Thracia 776.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Leaf's outfit is one of Marth's alternate costumes.

Levin edit

Levin (レヴィン, Revin) is the Prince (and later King) of Silesia and the son of Queen Rahna and the late king of Silesia. He is a direct descendant of Sety, the founder of Silesia. In Seisen no Keifu, before the game begins, he ran away and went missing from home. During his travels, he met Sylvia, a dancer. In Chapter 4, he goes back to Silesia castle, and his mother Rahna gives him the legendary tome Holsety. After the battle of Barhara, Levin is killed by Manfloy (shown in the opening, after the game is finished several times), but the dragon, Holsety resurrected him at the cost of several parts of his memories, which would explain his behavior in the second part of the game. He serves as Celice's advisor in Celice's tale and is really protective to Yuria. In the midquel Thracia 776, he is married to Fury. While not playable, he continues living and aides Celice and Leaf in their battles against the empire.

Manfroy edit

Manfroy (マンフロイ, Manfuroi) is the archbishop of the Loput Sect, who strives to revive the Dark Lord Loputousu, and is also the mastermind behind the Holy War and the Isaacian-Grandbellian War. In Seisen no Keifu, he kidnaps and brainwashes Diadora in Chapter 3 and sends her for her half-brother Alvis to find so he can marry her. Manfloy manipulates Alvis and offers the dark tome of Loputousu to Yurius later on in the game. In the final chapter, Manfloy brainwashes Yuria just like he did to Diadora, but Celice eventually saves her when he kills Manfloy for the one being responsible for his parents' sorrows. He was also responsible for the assassination of Ayra's father King Mananan, with the use of Reptor the duke of Freege.

In Thracia 776, it is revealed that Manfroy had a daughter, and killed his daughter's husband because he did not approve of their love. This caused his granddaughter, Sara, to despise him. It is also implied that he and Veld manipulated Trabant into ambushing Cuan and Ethlin.

Characters in Elibe edit

The fictional continent of Elibe is the setting for Fūin no Tsurugi and Fire Emblem. Elibe is composed of six nations: Lycia, Bern, Etruria, Sacae, Missur, and Ilia. There is an archipelago to the northwest called the Western Isles, and is composed of Caledonia, Fibernia, and Dia.

Bartre edit

The father of Fir and brother-in-law of Karel. Calling himself "Bartre the Brave", he still loves fighting to a fault and will willingly dive into danger for anyone, especially Fir, since it is his duty as her father. His wife, Karla, died several years ago from an illness. During the Western Isles campaign, he is still searching for his long lost daughter. Bartre seems to enjoy trying to matchmake his daughter with young men he deems worthy of her, and becomes a sort-of counselor for young thief Cath. He is also one of Eliwood's allies in Fire Emblem, fighting alongside his friend Dorcas.

Eliwood edit

Eliwood is Roy's father, and the Marquess of Pherae. He suffers from a sickness at the beggining of the game. In the first chapter, he is visited by Lilina, but the Pherae castle is later invaded by bandits. Realizing the danger, and him being unable to fight the danger, sends Lance to give the situation to Roy, who fights and saves Pherae. After the invasion, Eliwood is informed of Bern's actions, but with his sickness he is unable to fight. Roy offers himself to help and Eliwood lets Roy take the lead of the Pheraen army.

Eliwood is also one of the three main characters of Fire Emblem, the prequel of Fūin no Tsurugi.

Erik edit

Erik (エリック, Erikku?) is the son of late Lord Darin and the Marquess of Laus during the game. Erik is in charge of the Laus army during Bern's invasion but he betrays Lycia and is later killed by Roy.

In the prequel Fire Emblem, it is revealed that his father Lord Darin was plotting a rebellion against Ostia. Erik holds a grudge against Eliwood and Hector from their school days, and he leads an attack on them when they arrive in Laus during Eliwood's search for his father. Once defeated, Erik is arrested and then interrogated, during which Eliwood and Hector learn some dark secrets about Darin's plot, and Lord Elbert's connection with the Lycia rebellion. Despite his father's treachery and the fact that he took up arms against the future Marquess of Ostia, Erik was allowed to retain Laus and become its Marquess sometime after Darin's death on Valor.

Hector edit

Hector is the father of Lilina, the marquess of Ostia, and the famed and feared general of the Lycia Alliance. He dies early in the game after Bern attacks him in Araphen. He was assassinated by Zephiel. He later appears in Fire Emblem as a much younger version of himself, available to the player as a Lord unit who uses axes.

Karel edit

Karel is the uncle of Fir, the late Karla's brother and Bartre's brother-in-law. First called the "Sword Demon" due to his psychotic behavior in seeking powerful foes to challenge, he is called the "Saint of Swords" during the events of the game. He is retired and travels the land with a new nickname and resolve, having finally found peace in himself after many years. As the "Sword Demon", he is a playable character in the prequel.

Marcus edit

Marcus (マーカス, Mākasu) is an experienced veteran serving House Pherae. He originally served Lord Elbert, Eliwood's father, after he was recently promoted. He went on to teach and serve Eliwood and is now Roy's mentor in this game. Marcus is dedicated to Roy such that he finds that most youth lack Roy's discipline and believes his age prevents him from effectively helping Roy. However, when the paladin suggests that he retire, Roy reveals how much he trusts Marcus and relies on the man for advice.

In the Fire Emblem prequel, he serves a similar role under Eliwood, both in storyline role and class-wise, although he looks noticeably younger.

Merlinus edit

Merlinus (マリナス, Marinasu) is the personal advisor of Roy. Instead of fighting, he supports the army by carrying their weapons and items in a carriage. He is very outspoken in his opinions, distrusts many people and behaves a bit harshly, fearing that people might be trying to use Roy's plea for their own purposes. In battle, the player's forces can use the "Merch" command when standing next to Merlinus to withdraw and deposit their belongings. The maximum amount of items allowed in storage is 100. When a unit's inventory is full and he/she gains an item, the player can send an item to Merlinus instead of discarding it; this can take place even if Merlinus is not deployed in battle. However, units cannot use "Merch" to withdraw items if he is missing from the battle. The only way for this unit the level up is to survive 100 hits, since he is a non-combat unit.

Merlinus also appears in the prequel, Fire Emblem, as a frail merchant with a younger age and an altered appearance. Unlike in Fūin no Tsurugi, he uses a stationary tent and only later acquires a carriage; he is also timid and fearful compared to his older personality.

Zephiel edit

Zephiel (ゼフィール, Zefiiru), the King of Bern, is the main villain of the game. Zephiel seeks to conquer the land of Elibe. He is the son of Desmond, King of Bern, and Hellene, a princess from Etruria.

His first chronological appearance is in the following game, Fire Emblem, as a younger, then-innocent prince. Even at a young age, Zephiel was extremely talented and far more popular with the common folk than his father. It was because of this that Desmond became extremely jealous of his son, and contracted the Black Fang assassins to kill him out of fear that Zephiel would depose him. Zephiel, however, had no intention of deposing his father, nor any wish beyond reuniting his family. In the end, the assassination plot was foiled by Eliwood's army and the prince was saved. Many years later, Desmond attempted a second assassination by handing his son a goblet of poisoned wine. Zephiel fell ill from the poison, but did not die. However, with the help of his close ally Murdock, he stayed in hiding and had a false funeral arranged. When Desmond stepped up to the casket to view Zephiel's body at the funeral, Zephiel, in his lust for revenge, rose and stabbed his father to death. Zephiel later encounters Idoun, the Demon Dragon.

Characters in Tellius edit

The setting for the games Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn is the fictional continent of Tellius, which is divided into seven nations. They are Crimea (home to the Greil Mercenaries), Daein, Begnion, Gallia, Phoenicis, Kilvas and Goldoa.

Black Knight edit

The Black Knight (漆黒の騎士, Shikkoku no Kishi) is a major antagonist in Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, the most powerful of Daein's generals known as the Four Riders. Although the Black Knight is not a rider as such, his character has access to Warp Powder, an arcane magic item he uses to travel.[1] He is masked and clad in full-body black armor, not reveiling his true identity as general Zelgius (ゼルギウス, Zerugiusu) of Begnion until near the end of Radiant Dawn. The character is voiced by voice actor Junji Majima in Japanese; in English, the voice is provided by Mark Dias.[2] In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the Black Knight appears as a trophy and a sticker.

The Black Knight was once a student of General Gawain (Greil)[3] before becoming one of the most powerful of Daein's Four Riders. He is also a Branded, which he reveals to Sephiran. It was Sephiran who gave him his sword, Alondite, and his armor, which was blessed by the goddess Ashera[4]. Because of his identity as a Branded, he suffered from much shunning and loneliness throughout his life. His sole wish was to face his teacher, Gawain, and defeat him; his pursuit of this duel was the only action he undertook of his own accord after becoming Sephiran's follower. His blessed armor was made impenetrable to all weapons save those that have also been blessed, such as his sword Alondite, and the sword Ragnell.

Toward the beginning of Path of Radiance the Black Knight has his duel with Greil, giving him Ragnell seemingly as an act of mercy but Greil refuses. After killing Greil, he becomes Ike's mortal enemy, and spends much of the game performing acts to enable Ashnard's efforts, such as providing Ashnard with blessed armour much like his own.[5] Ashnard, after a comment from General Petrine about the Black Knight's strength, said he would be interested in challenging the Knight some day. Ike engages the Black Knight in a duel after capturing a Daein castle. When the Black Knight is defeated, he commends Ike on his growth in skill and strength, after which traps are set off in the fortress, burying him.

In Radiant Dawn the Black Knight returns with the desire to see Daein restored. He protects Micaiah when Jarod attempts to kill her, in the final battle against the Begnion Occupational Army and in the war against the Laguz Alliance. As Zelgius, he leads the Begnion Central Army against the invading laguz. Despite being an antagonist for parts of the game, he proves himself a noble and selfless soldier: he spares Skrimir during their duel; against Senator Valtome's orders, he refuses to fight a defenseless Elincia; and he follows the vast majority of his orders without question, regardless of his personal opinions. He serves Prime Minister Sephiran selflessly and views him as his master. All of his actions are guided by Sephiran's will, including his eventual return to Daein as the Black Knight. Near the end of the game he reveals his identity as Zelgius and engages Ike in a second duel, this time to the death. He dies believing that Ike fought with all of the skill Gawain possessed in his prime, and rests peacefully, waiting for Sephiran to join him. Ike considers Zelgius his final teacher.

Dheginsea edit

Dheginsea (デギンハンザー, Deginhanzā) is the king of Goldoa, the nation of the dragon laguz tribes. He is the oldest non-divine being on Tellius, one of the Three Heroes of legend and bore witness to the last great war that engulfed the continent, and the resultant great flood.[6] He alongside Soan, the beast king, Altina the founder of Begnion, and the goddess Ashera herself, [6] fought the "dark god" responsible for the flood who was then imprisoned in Lehran's Medallion. He had three children: Rajaion, Almedha and Kurthnaga.

In Path of Radiance during a meeting of laguz royalty, he sternly warns that the others watch where they tread in the battle against Daein, because the end result may engulf Tellius in chaos.[7] He constantly urges the laguz not to fan the flames of war while the location of Lehran's Medallion is unknown: his top priority is to save the world from destruction. It is to this end that he maintains a policy of perfect neutrality.

In Radiant Dawn it is revealed that Dheginsea was responsible for prejudice against the Branded, labelling Laguz-Beorc union an abomination in an attempt to protect the secret Lehran and Altina held with the birth of their child - the loss of the laguz parent's powers. Further yet, in the hopes of preventing war across the continent, he twisted the truth and labelled Yune a "Dark God" to discourage any attempts at waking her and thereby keep Ashera from passing her judgement. He solemnly bore the weight of his decisions, never wavering in his commitment, despite his knowledge of the ultimate atrocities his actions caused. In the end of the game he chooses to side with Ashera, leading to a confrontation with his son in the Tower of Guidance. He is blessed by Ashera, making him incapable of receiving damage from any weapons not similarly blessed. He is mortally wounded by Ike and Micaiah's party after Yune blesses their weapons; before he dies, he orders his vassals to follow Kurthnaga, whom he names the new King of Goldoa.

Elincia edit

Elincia Ridell Crimea, Princess of Crimea and only remaining member of the Crimean royal bloodline,[8] employs the Greil Mercenaries for the greater part of this game. Without the power inherent in her station due to being displaced by Ashnard's invasion, she is forced to rely on the aid of others in order to take her proper place as the rightful ruler of Crimea. Due to the fear of political fallout that might have occurred if her existence were made public, she was raised in secrecy from birth;[9] only the high ranking nobles of each nation and a select few Crimeans were made aware of her existence.[10] Until the Daein invasion, she spent her life at a villa in the countryside.[11] She also became very close friends with the siblings, Lucia and Geoffrey, who grew up along with her.[12]

However, because Elincia was raised in such seclusion, she has very little knowledge of the outside world.[13] Before meeting the Greil Mercenaries, she had never set foot in a Crimean village, nor had she any opportunity to interact with Crimean peasants. After being rescued by Ike and the mercenaries, she employs them to escort her to Gallia. After Greil is slain, she agrees with Ike's decision to fight back against Daein to restore Crimea's independence, and they accompany each other for the rest of the journey. Later in the game, Elincia gains use of a sword, armor, and a pegasus that once belonged to her great-grandmother and enters battle.[14] Elincia is voiced by Juri Takita (Japanese) and by Erica Evans (English).[2]

Elincia (エリンシア, Erinshia), the Princess of Crimea from Path of Radiance, returns as Crimea's Queen and the main character of Part II. She leads in select chapters, and in others gives command to her subordinates, Lucia and Geoffrey. Her role in the plot is to quell a rebellion in Crimea started by corrupt nobles. Later in the game, her troops fight alongside Ike's and Tibarn's armies. As in Path of Radiance, she has exclusive usage of the sword Amiti, a blade passed down through Crimean royalty. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Elincia appears as a trophy.

Greil edit

Greil is Ike's father, and the founder of the Greil Mercenaries.[15] He was once known as General Gawain, one of Daein's 'Four Riders' (the four knights who are closest to Daein's King in strength),[16] but fled his homeland with his wife, Elena, after she was entrusted with Lehran's Medallion by Reyson and Leanne's older sister, Lillia. The name is a reference to Arthurian mythology; Gawain was the nephew of King Arthur and a knight of the Round Table.[17] For a time, he and Elena lived peacefully in Gallia. During this time, Ike and Mist were born, and Greil also met Titania, who had been sent by Crimea to study in an officer exchange program.

However, one day, Greil made the mistake of taking hold of the medallion, and immediately went insane.[18] After engaging in a mindless slaughter, the medallion was eventually pulled from his grasp by Elena. When he returned to his sane mind, he found his wife impaled on his sword. After her death, he hired Volke for the purpose of killing him should he lose his mind again,[19] and slashed the tendons from his hand so that he would no longer be able to wield a sword.[20] He entrusted the medallion to Mist, who had the same gentle spirit as her mother, and forbade Ike from ever touching the medallion himself.[21] Greil eventually founded the Greil Mercenaries, and earned a living by performing tasks for various villages in Crimea.

Sensing the danger that Daein poses upon news of the invasion, he quickly has Ike take on more responsibility within the company, and eventually flees with the mercenaries to Gallia in order to protect Princess Elincia. Later, Greil engages in a duel with the Black Knight, a former pupil from his days as General Gawain. The Black Knight tosses him the sword Ragnell, but refusing to wield it, Greil chooses to fight with his axe, Urvan, and loses to the Black Knight.[22] Ultimately, Greil is mortally wounded and dies as Ike takes him back to the mercenary encampment. His seiyuu is Takashi Nagasako. His voice actor is Stephan Weyte.[2] In Radiant Dawn, his memory remains strong in those who knew him. Greil's axe, Urvan, was used as a marker for his grave until Caineghis passes it on to Ike.

Ike edit

Ike is the son of Commander Greil of the Greil Mercenaries. The story begins with Ike's last day as a trainee in his father's mercenary company,[23] and follows him as he grows in power to lead a military force for the purpose of restoring an entire nation.

Ike is the first central main character in the Fire Emblem series not to be of royal lineage or noble birth.[24] This is because his creators decided that they wanted a character that "any man can also empathize with." Ike's blunt personality and characteristic blue hair was derived from one of the protagonists from Fire Emblem, Hector, who the creators of Ike discovered was one of the most popular characters in the series.[25]

He barely remembers his early childhood in Gallia, and also does not know what Laguz are at the beginning of the game. He is often outspoken, although this is due to his lack of experience with important figures, and this both helps him and hurts him in the game. For most of the game he is under the service of Princess Elincia but does not want anything more than regular mercenary payment and a chance to avenge his father's death.

He starts out with the title of Ranger but is eventually granted the title of Lord by Princess Elincia so that he may officially lead the Crimean Liberation Army as its general.[26] Ike duels the Black Knight to avenge his father's death using Ragnell, a sword blessed by the goddess which is one of the few indestructible weapons in the series.[27] The sword is one of only a few weapons that can damage the Black Knight's blessed armor.[28] After their final duel Ike continues to lead the army towards the Crimean capital and defeats Ashnard, ending the Daein occupation and allowing Elincia to take her proper place as the nation's queen.[29]

Ike returns in Radiant Dawn as the main character of the latter half of the game. As part of a ruse, he and his Greil Mercenaries stay hidden during the Crimean rebellion until joining at the last minute to save Lucia from her execution. He later aids the Laguz Alliance when it invades Begnion; he then leads the Apostle's armies united with those of Gallia, Crimea, and Phoenicis. He is the wielder of the divine blade Ragnell, which he had previously used while duelling with the Black Knight. It is at the Tower of Guidance where he finally avenges his father's death and defeats the Black Knight in a one-on-one duel. It is then revealed that, as a child, he witnessed his mother Elena's death at the hands of Greil, but his memory was sealed by Sephiran to protect him. Once the goddess Ashera is defeated and stability is returned to the world, Ike leaves the continent of Tellius forever.

Ike is a playable character in the Wii game Super Smash Bros. Brawl, retaining Ragnell and some of his abilities from Path of Radiance.[30] He also appears as two stickers: one from "Path of Radiance," and the other from "Radiant Dawn." In the Subspace Emissary Ike stops the Ancient Minister by using "Aether" to render one of his Subspace Bombs useless and then teams up with Meta Knight and fellow Fire Emblem protagonist Marth. Ike is voiced by Michihiko Hagi (Japanese) and by Seattle-based actor Jason Adkins in English.[2]

Sephiran edit

Sephiran is the Prime Minister of Begnion and Duke Persis; he travels the continent in disguise to learn the state of the people and the whereabouts of the Fire Emblem.[31] Ike first encounters him after setting him free from a Daein prison that he had been taken to after posing as a monk and healing members of the Crimean militia.[32] Sephiran later explains Elincia's plight to the apostle prior to the mercenaries' arrival in Begnion. He reappears at the end of the game to congratulate Ike, but he also believes that although Ike brought peace to Tellius, his efforts may also ignite a lust for power in others, and that war may engulf the continent once again.[33]

Sephiran (セフェラン, Seferan), Duke of Persis, is the Prime Minister of Begnion. His true name is Lehran (エルラン, Eruran), the thousand year-old heron who once accompanied the Goddess. It was he who imprisoned Yune in the Medallion with his galdr. He fell in love with and married Altina, the founder of Begnion; she bore his child, who was the very first Branded. This created the Apostolic dynasty, whose firstborn children were endowed, like Lehran himself, with the ability to hear the voice of the Goddess. Shortly after the birth, however, Lehran lost the ability to transform and to sing galdr: he became neither beorc nor laguz. He then retreated to Goldoa, where he lived, in secret and in Dheginsea's care, for seven hundred years. He later left Goldoa to find a way to end the mistreatment of laguz slaves when Dheginsea refused to allow Goldoa to interfere. While in Begnion, Lehran met Misaha, the Apostle at the time, who decided to reveal her Brand to the world, despite being warned by Lehran.

It is not revealed until the end of the game that he is a major antagonist: he manipulated the events of both Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn with the ultimate goal of reviving Ashera. He seeks the destruction of the world and the purging of all life: in his eyes, the beorc and the laguz both deserve only death. As is revealed in Ike's memory scene, it was Sephiran who sealed Ike's memories of his mother's death. Upon Sephiran's defeat, it is revealed in a flashback that his decision to awaken the Goddess was largely influenced by the Serenes Massacre. If certain conditions are met, Micaiah saves his life after the battle. Ike convinces him that he should try to make up for his past actions and help them defeat Ashera. He is reluctant at first, but he eventually decides that his actions have been wrong, and he joins as a playable character. When the game ends, Sephiran lies in Serenes Forest by Lorazieh's urging and allows the galdrar to heal his worn and ragged soul. It is there where Lehran welcomes the return of Ashunera a thousand years later, and appears with his black wings visible. He has a special light magic tome known as Creiddylad.

Soren edit

The staff officer and strategist of the Mercenaries is Soren. Initially, Soren was suspected to be a Spirit Charmer—one who has made a special pact with the supernatural,[34] but he is actually Branded.[35] Branded are beorc-laguz hybrids generally despised by both races.[36] It was under Ike's persuasion that Greil accepted Soren into the Mercenaries.[37] Soren states absolute loyalty to Ike.

Soren (セネリオ, Senerio) is the cold and calculating tactician of the Greil Mercenaries. It is due to his advice that the Laguz Alliance succeeds in penetrating the centre of Begnion. He is loyal only to Ike and holds an unshakable faith in him.

Soren is a Branded - someone born with both beorc and laguz blood - and has experienced prejudice from both societies. In a special conversation in the epilogue, it is revealed that Pelleas is an imposter who was placed on the throne because he was easy to control. Soren is both the true King of Daein and a Prince of Goldoa, though his mother never tells him this. [38] Soren was born to Mad King Ashnard of Daein and Princess Almedha of Goldoa. When Ashnard discovered that his son could not transform into a dragon, he used him as a hostage to capture a laguz who could: Prince Rajaion of Goldoa, Almedha's brother, willingly became the subject of Ashnard's experiments in order to protect his nephew.

Ashnard then abandoned the infant Soren in Gallia, where he was subsequently raised by a bitter old woman. Not long into his residence with her, Soren was sold to an old sage who mistook him for a Spirit Charmer, someone who allows a spirit into their body and possesses great magical abilities. After the sage died, Soren was alone and near death before eventually being discovered by Greil and a young Ike. Soren never forgot Ike's kindness to him during this time, and he later travelled across Crimea to find him again. If Soren and Ike have an A-rank support at the game's end, they will leave Tellius to explore unknown lands together.

Sothe edit

Later in the game, the Mercenaries come across Sothe whilst on Nasir's ship; he is an enigmatic thief claiming that he is looking for someone.[39] When Tormod constantly tries to make friends with him, he refuses,[40] and during a conversation with Astrid, he expresses his hatred for nobles.[41]

Sothe (サザ, Saza) was the first of the Path of Radiance cast announced to return. Sothe first met Micaiah when he was a young child, and the two eventually formed a close bond, treating each other as brother and sister. During Path of Radiance, Sothe first appeared as an orphaned stowaway seeking a lost, unnamed companion; in Radiant Dawn, it is revealed that this companion was Micaiah, who fled Daein to prevent him from being affected by her identity as a Branded. After the Mad King's War, Sothe returned to Daein's capital of Nevassa, found Micaiah, and expressed how upset he was that she had abandoned him. As a result, Micaiah realized how important she was to him, and she swore to never leave him again.

Although Sothe is very protective of Micaiah, whom he trusts implicitly, they continue to have their disagreements throughout the game. He argues with her over his strong respect for Ike, who Micaiah believes is responsible for destroying Daein in the Mad King's War. Furthermore, although Micaiah considers the Black Knight a hero for saving her life, Sothe views him as a rival for the position of Micaiah's protector. Despite their differences, Sothe stays by her side during their battles, even when they are forced to fight against Ike and the Laguz Alliance by the Begnion Senate. At the end of the game, he and Micaiah will marry if they share an "A" support.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Sothe appears as a trophy and a sticker.

Other recurring Characters edit

Anna edit

Anna (アンナ, Anna) is the lover of Jake. She is the only character to appear in every game in the Fire Emblem series, with the exception of Fire Emblem Gaiden, though she is never playable in any of them. Anna operates the secret shops in Ankoku Ryu to Hikari no Ken, Shadow Dragon, and Monsho no Nazo, and has a speaking role in Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu. In Fire Emblem and Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, she appears in the multiplayer portions of the game. In Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, she hosts the in-game tutorial.

Jake edit

Jake (ジェイク, Jeiku) is a ballistician for Grust, who is in love with Anna. Caeda manages to convince him to defect and join Marth's cause. In his ending in Shadow Dragon, Jake helps rebuild the continent, though he expresses interest in travelling to far-off continents with Anna. He does not appear in Book Two, though he appears in Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu and Fire Emblem as a non-player character, ostensibly representing his travels.
