Opilidia macrocnema, also known as Chaudoir's Tiger Beetle, is a species of beetle in the family ground beetles.[1] The scientific name of this species was first published in 1852 by Maximilien de Chaudoir. It is found throughout Latin America, ranging from Mexico[1] to Ecuador[2]. Adult Chaudoir's Tiger Beetles have been found to be "active at a temperature range of 20.0-44.9°C and most active at 0800, 1400, and 1500 hours"[3]. The beetles are commonly found on sandy shores along the western coast[4]. There, they have been observed to spend "most of their time on wet sand within one meter of the water line", and can be found there hunting small crustaceans, as well as "scavenging omnivorously"[3].
