Stephen J Press, DC, CCSP, FACSM, FICC is an American chiropractor. He was born in 1947 to Howard and Renée Press in Bronx, New York.

He is currently in private practice in Englewood, New Jersey and consulting staff physician at Preakness Healthcare Center (formerly Preakness Hospital).[1][2]

Biography edit

Dr. Press received his Bachelors Degree in biology from Thomas Edison College and graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic to obtain his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1978.[3] He went on to obtain his Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician [4] from National University of Health Sciences in 1980,[5] and became Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine in 1983.[6]

Professional Career edit

1987 - At Kensington Hall, London, England; He Founded the World Governing Body for Sports Chiropractic - Fédération Internationale de Chiropratique du Sports (FICS) and was elected its first President List of International Sport Federations, (or Int'l Fed. of Sports Chiro.) [7][8][9][10][11]

1992 - Chief Physician of the USSR Winter Olympic team. XVIth Winter Olympic Games, Albertville, France.[12][13][14] This is notable for two main reasons: a.- that an American Chiropractic Doctor was chosen as Chief physician for the USSR; and b.- that as a result of the dissolution of the USSR, he became the only Doctor ever to serve 12 Countries [15] in one Olympic games.

1998 - Dr. Press was named by Sr. Isidro Oliveras [16] , Pres. of the International Roller Sports Federation (FIRS), to Chair their Medical Commission [17]

2000 - Dr. Press was co-opted by H.E., Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, Pres. of the Republic of Kalmykia, and of FIDE (World Chess Federation) to create their new Medical Commission (in the post of Vice-Chairman). [18] On the untimely death of Chairman, Pedro Barrera, MD [19], he became "Acting Chairman", until the post was assumed by Jana Bellin, MD.
