How do I?

edit

I have two questions. First, when I prepare a paragraph to edit a paragraph in an existing article, how do I refer to existing footnotes and how will the system incorporate new sources that I add. Thank you. Ac11av8rhx (talk) 21:36, 5 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Your question only makes sense if you're talking about an edit request, perhaps because of a COI. If you're editing the article directly, you just edit it.
I saved up an example of someone doing an excellent job of making a COI edit request involving references. It's here. But not everything proposed gets accepted.
But you don't have to do anything elaborate. You can refer to an existing ref by simply placing a ref name or ref number in brackets. And if you're adding a new ref, simply format that properly as a new ref.
The editor who deals with your edit request can be expected to be able to figure out how to hook your existing ref into the right place and can certainly copy over a properly formatted new ref. The system will collate all of the refs in the order in which they appear into the References section at the bottom of the page. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 22:14, 5 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
