  • Flemish paintings in the Metropolitan Museum of Art (v. 1&2): when you do end up links to one of the catalogs, you should probably link to the specific catalog the relevant information is in. This is a major catalog, and there will be lots of obscure artists represented in it, many of which will have little information on them in Wikipedia. These sorts of artists should be the focus, and not major artists like Van Eyck or someone (since they will already have lots of really rich external links and references etc etc). Also, if there are individual works of art that are discussed in this that also have Wikipedia articles on them (very likely), then you should add this. Anyway, let's see what you come up with for this and then review together. WilliamDigiCol (talk) 17:34, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
Yes. We should have most of the artists, with little info & out-of-date bios, as you say. Most of this sort of thing started out as pure cut n' paste from Encyclopedia Brittannica 1911 & most have not moved on much. So good. Fewer works, I'd guess. They would (should) all be in Category:Flemish paintings - very little beyond the big names. Category:Paintings of the Metropolitan Museum of Art also, though that's not sorted by school. Johnbod (talk) 10:46, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
  • Indian court painting, 16th-19th century: I've added links to a few more general pages (like Indian art, I think, and a few others), but I bet there's quite a bit more this could be relevant for. What I would do with this is search Wikipedia for it to see what articles it has already been linked to, and then dig in and find out where else it might be useful. WilliamDigiCol (talk) 18:47, 24 September 2014 (UTC)
Not many articles, & very poor quality on this, so a really good thing to add the links. Most/all of Category:Schools_of_Indian_painting should be added, if you haven't already. Johnbod (talk) 10:46, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
I'd imagine so. I'll try to take a look, but it may not be for a while. Johnbod (talk) 10:46, 27 November 2014 (UTC)

These links were added after consulting with other Wikipedia editors in the above section. Those interactions can be viewed below.

COMMENT: Page lacking in multiple aspects, added to the longer edits page of the GLAM project.

COMMENT: It may be worth going through some of the artists in the Macbeth Gallery Collection in order to link them to this page.

  • Yeah, I don't know that this should go on the American Impressionism one because there's already a lot there, but if there is stuff on individual artists that aren't well represented on Wikipedia you should definitely suggest linking to some of them. WilliamDigiCol (talk) 17:48, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

COMMENT: Some artists to potentially link to this:

COMMENT: I found the layout a bit confusing on this page, as a lot of the links under the Works section simply link to the museum wikis. Would it be better to somehow incorporate the items in our collection with that section, or is there plenty of information on the page already? AWCDigiCol (talk) 16:24, 15 September 2014 (UTC)

  • Go for it. I think just adding the link in the EL section is fine, though you're right it is not a well-structured page WilliamDigiCol (talk) 13:15, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
  • IN EXTERNAL LINKS: Exhibition of recent paintings, an exhibition catalog containing a foreword by the artist, available from the Metropolitan Museum of Art Libraries.
    • Sure - the other two ELs are worthless.WilliamDigiCol (talk) 21:25, 15 September 2014 (UTC)
  • IN EXTERNAL LINKS: Catalogue of pictures, a digitized exhibition catalog containing a list of works of the artist.
    • Hmmmm, this one's tough. There is hardly anything in this Wikipedia article, BUT there is really practically nothing in this catalog (except the name of 15 of this guy's paintings)...perhaps if you include a note that this resource doesn't contain biographical information, or that it ONLY contains a list of works by the artist, then we can go ahead and add it? Too bad there's not more on this guy in our collection. WilliamDigiCol (talk) 17:12, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
      • Edited to clarify that it only contains a list of works of the artist. AWCDigiCol (talk) 15:53, 15 September 2014 (UTC)
Nothing much anywhere, but really lists of titles aren't much use, esp if they are rather non-specific (I didn't check). If named portraits of historical works, that's not so bad. Johnbod (talk) 00:56, 22 October 2014 (UTC)

Kraushaar Gallery:

  • IN EXTERNAL LINKS: Exhibition of Etchings, an exhibition catalog containing a list of works by Beaufrère, available from the Metropolitan Museum or Art Libraries.

COMMENT: One of those catalogs that doesn't have much information, but neither does the WP. Better than nothing?

  • IN EXTERNAL LINKS: Exhibition of paintings by S.J. Peploe, an exhibition catalog available from the Metropolitan Museum of Art Libraries, containing information on the artist.
    • Ok - the other links aren't great (and the National Galleries one should probably be removed - it goes to nothing - feel free to take it out)

COMMENT: I wasn't sure how to word this one, since the catalog is a little different from the others I've gone though. Thoughts?

Flemish paintings MMA pub:

COMMENT: Referred to as de Crayer, Gaspar in the index.

COMMENT: Referred to as Floris, Frans I in the index.

COMMENT: Looks like the whole family tree is lacking in some information. I figure I might as well link all the guys from the index, even if some have more information than others?

  • Yes, I think this will be useful for all the pages you've indicated above. WilliamDigiCol (talk) 18:38, 21 October 2014 (UTC)

COMMENT: There's already a MMA pub linked on the page, but it only seems to have a short entry on the artist. There's a bit of stuff on Fyt in the index, so what do you think?

COMMENT: Contains a lot of contextual information on de Heem; a portrait of him is included in Colorplate I: The Smokers.

  • I guess - is there quite a bit on him in the catalog? If so definitely go for it. WilliamDigiCol (talk) 13:08, 29 October 2014 (UTC)
    • There's more information about him in his cultural context, such as relationships with other artists, etc. AWCDigiCol (talk) 19:45, 31 October 2014 (UTC)

COMMENT: Referred to as van der Hoecke, Jan in the index. Related works: Plate 93, v.2.

COMMENT: Listed as Horemans, Jan Joseph I in the index. Pieter Jacob Horemans added to the GLAM tasks.

COMMENT: A decent amount of stuff on him --there's a section on p.108 that's focused on him. Related works: Plate 49. AWCDigiCol (talk) 20:25, 31 October 2014 (UTC)

COMMENT: Some information about his role as a collector, as well as items from his collection. AWCDigiCol (talk) 20:25, 31 October 2014 (UTC)

  • Sure, just make sure to explain that this relates to his art collecting. WilliamDigiCol (talk) 18:20, 5 November 2014 (UTC)

COMMENT: Referred to as Leopold Wilhelm, Archduke of the Netherlands in the index. Mostly information about his collections, a bit more in depth than the patronage section. AWCDigiCol (talk) 17:22, 3 November 2014 (UTC)

COMMENT: Text contains information on her, as well as her daughter Susanna (who does not have a wikipage, but is referenced on the page). Susanna is referred to as Lunden, Susanna (nee Fourment) in the index. AWCDigiCol (talk) 17:22, 3 November 2014 (UTC)

COMMENT: There's mostly information about Cosimo II in the text, but Ferdinando II might benefit from a little more information. AWCDigiCol (talk) 17:22, 3 November 2014 (UTC)

  • Ok, but be sure to provide some context (ie that it's about them as patrons, etc). WilliamDigiCol (talk) 18:20, 5 November 2014 (UTC)

COMMENT: Related works: Plate 53. AWCDigiCol (talk) 17:22, 3 November 2014 (UTC)

COMMENT: Both have minimal content on their pages, would greatly benefit from the information in the text. Related Works (P.N.I) - Plate 54, 55, 56; (P.N.II) - Plate 57.

COMMENT: Referred to as Pontius, Paul in the index (v.1).

COMMENT: Has a section focused on the artist (p.237-241). Related works, plate 90, 91.

COMMENT: Not a lot of stuff on the guy (in the book or or the wiki page), but maybe some further reference points for those curious?

COMMENT: Section dedicated to the artist (p. 241-243). Related work: Plate 92.

COMMENT: Tons of stuff on him. Biographical section p. 243-249. Related works: fig. 49, 50 (v.1), plate 93, 108 (v.2).

  • Sure, will make a nice addition to the other cat we have up. WilliamDigiCol (talk) 19:27, 12 November 2014 (UTC)

COMMENT: Not a lot of stuff, but both pages could use something.

COMMENT: Biographical section p.249-254. Related works: plate 94, 95, 96 (v.2).

COMMENT: The wikipage already has a decent amount of information on him, and we have a met pub linked, but the stuff in the text is fairly comprehensive. Related works: plates 97-103 (v.2).

COMMENT: Referred to as van Tilborgh, Gillis in the index. Related works: plate 104 (v.2).

COMMENT: Related works: Figure 13 (v.1).

COMMENT: In response to the previous comments, I'll be adding pages #s to future links I'll be adding. I can't help but feel that adding catalog #s will be a lot of information to fit in, especially when an artist has multiple works. Any feedback is appreciated (or even a sample citation). COMMENT: Referred to as Brueghel, Jan I in the index.
    • We already have a link to a much better MMA pub on there, so I'd say we not add another. You could look for an individual painting by this artist, but not on his main page. WilliamDigiCol (talk) 17:16, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
