AJWM is the usual web nym for Alastair JW Mayer. Areas of expertise include primarily computers, space and space exploration, and science fiction. He has - among other things - been a contributer to (the late, dead-tree version of) Byte Magazine, past president of two L5 Society chapters, astronaut candidate, pilot and scuba diver. He's helped computerize an observatory (photoelectric photometry, studying variable stars and asteroid occultations). Publication credits include the aforementioned Byte Magazine, Final Frontier, High Frontier, and various ACM SIG newsletters, as well as several reference manuals and user guides for different software systems. Back in the day, he was known as "al" on the BIX conferencing system, based on the CoSy software he developed while at U of Guelph.
