Bulimus argutus

Partula arguta was a species of partulid within the genus Partula. The species is rarely referred to as the Huahine tiny partula[1], and was endemic to Huahine.

Distribution

edit

P. arguta was already considered rare and restricted to the mountains of Huahine[2], and the introduction of Euglandina was the nail in the coffin for the species.[3]

Captive breeding

edit

P. arguta was being maintained in captivity for some time, but high-altitude Partula are generally not suited for captivity, and the last P. arguta died in April 14, 1994.

Phylogeny

edit

Phylogenetic analyses studied P. arguta but the results were not published.[4]

Taxonomy

edit

P. arguta was originally described as a species in the genus Bulimus (B. argutus) before being transferred to Partula when that genus was erected.[5]
