Biography

edit

Born in Reims in 1973, to a military father and an English teacher mother, he graduated from HEC Paris in 1996. In the same years, in 1993, he created the Solidarité France Nepal association, a law student association. from 1901 for humanitarian purposes.[2]

He made his debut at L'Oréal in South Korea. In 1998, he founded Alter Eco, a pioneering fair trade and organic brand, and succeeded in having it distributed by Monoprix. He led the company from 1998 to 2011.[3]

From 2007, he launched projects via agroforestry. This approach led him to found PUR Projet in 2008, a company which develops projects for the regeneration and preservation of ecosystems in partnership with local communities, and supports companies using the Insetting approach, which consists of compensating within even from its value chain all the impacts of its activity linked to sustainable development. Since the end of 2013, he has coordinated the development of the International Platform for Insetting (IPI) which aims to help with the development and certification of Insetting projects around the world.[4]

For the 2014 edition of the Pinocchio awards, the NGO Friends of the Earth named its company PUR Projet in the Greenwashing category, calling into question one of the projects operated by the social enterprise, relating to forest conservation (REDD+ ) in Peru. This appointment gave rise to a lively debate between the two entities, opposing two divergent visions of sustainable development. In 2016, thanks to the effort of local communities and public authorities, this conservation project was classified by UNESCO within a wider area as a "Nature reserve".[5]

He is a member of the board of directors of the Chirac Foundation for Peace and president of the Fermes d’Avenir Association.
