Trey Rucker (born January 12, 2001)[1] is an American football safety for the Oklahoma State Cowboys. He previously played for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

Early life and high school
editRucker attended Flint Hill School located in Oakton, Virginia. Coming out of high school, Rucker was rated as a three-star recruit, where he committed to play college football for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.[2][3]
College career
editWake Forest
editDuring Rucker's two-year career in 2020 and 2021, he totaled 84 tackles with two being for a loss, a pass deflection, two interceptions and a fumble recovery.[4][5] After the conclusion of the 2021 season, Rucker decided to enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal.[6][7]
Oklahoma State
editRucker decided to transfer to play for the Oklahoma State Cowboys.[8][9] In Rucker's first season with Oklahoma State in 2021, he played in all 14 games for the Cowboys, where he recorded ten tackles with one being for a loss.[10] During the 2022 season, Rucker missed the entire regular season due to eligibility issues but returned to play in the team's bowl game versus Wisconsin, where he notched three tackles and an interception.[11][12] In week twelve of the 2023 season, Rucker recorded an interception in the Cowboys win over the Houston Cougars.[13] In the 2023 regular season finale, Rucker notched six tackles and the game winning forced fumble and fumble recovery in double overtime to help the Cowboys beat BYU, clinching a spot in the Big-12 Championship game.[14] Rucker finished the 2023 season, totaling 100 tackles with four being for a loss, a pass deflection, an interception, a forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries.[15] In week one of the 2024 season, Rucker was named the Big-12 defensive player of the week after notching 15 tackles, in a season-opening win over South Dakota State.[16] In week four, Rucker notched 14 tackles and two interceptions, however, Oklahoma State would fall to the Utah Utes 22–19.[17]
