Please help !!! edit

I created the template:WPKHITAN, but I just view that you use IF function to merge all Template:WPTIBET, Template:WPCHINA, etc.

Can you help me to merge template:WPKHITAN into this template:WPCHINA ? Yug2 (talk) 14:54, 19 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I want to have a {{WPCHINA|khitan=yes|class=B|importance=Top|nested=yes}} working, as {{WPCHINA|tibet=yes|class=B|importance=Top|nested=yes}} does on Talk:Tibet Yug2 (talk) 14:58, 19 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

C class edit

the quality scale for project [1] has C class but the project template does not recognise it. Please can you or someone else fix. thanks Tom (talk) 14:17, 8 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Change history category edit

{{editprotected}}

could Category:Non-article history pages be changed to Category:NA-Class history articles as that is where all the history articles should be categorised to.

image-needed edit

{{editprotected}} Would it be possible to change the location of where articles are place from Category:China articles needing images where there are only 6 in the list to Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in China which is more in common with most photo requests?

Please :-) Traveler100 (talk) 09:35, 10 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Hmmm... I see 150 articles, not 6. Anyway Category:China articles needing images seams to be a duplicate of Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in China and out of standard naming (Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in XXX, right?) so... done. - Nabla (talk) 16:42, 10 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Project class edit

Is it possible to add a "Project" class to the template? Arsonal (talk) 02:25, 7 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Category change edit

{{editprotected}}
The following line:

|Category|category|Cat|cat=[[Category:Category-Class Chinese cinema articles|{{PAGENAME}}]]

should be changed to:

|Category|category|Cat|cat=[[Category:Chinese cinema category pages|{{PAGENAME}}]]

i.e. so that articles are placed into Category:Chinese cinema category pages rather than Category:Category-Class Chinese cinema articles, per WP:FILMS standard category naming. (Note that even though Category:Category-Class Chinese cinema articles exists, it was incorrectly created (by me) and I plan to have it deleted once it been depopulated, by the above-described change). FYI. A subsequent edit, made about a month later, has resulteed in the practical undoing of this change. I contacted the editor making the change, and would like to quote his reply here.

It would be just about possible to change this behaviour, but I would not recommend it. All other China workgroups use "articles" rather than "pages" for this and at least 99% of all WikiProjects now follow this convention. Films are also likely follow suit shortly. (I realise that it is not intuitive and occasionally proposals are made to change it, but I think a systematic approach is needed, not a piecemeal fix.) Regards, — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 10:11, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

In view of this reply I recommend to keep Category:Category-Class Chinese cinema articles as a redirect to Category:Chinese cinema category pages till such time as Wikipedia:WikiProject Films changes Template:Films to sort into the "articles" category as well. Debresser (talk) 11:21, 6 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
I'm fairly certain you can't redirect a populated category. PC78 (talk) 18:10, 6 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
That's what we have soft redirects for, using {{Category redirect}}. But the issue has been solved otherwise, adding {{Related category}} to both category pages. Debresser (talk) 19:48, 6 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
No, the intended purpose of {{Category redirect}} is that a bot can come along and change the category to the new one. However this does not and cannot work for categories populated by a template. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:52, 7 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
Well yes, obviously. But with the new Category:Wikipedia_non-empty_soft_redirected_categories they were found soon enough and taken care of. Debresser (talk) 12:48, 7 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

{{editprotected}} Can the following change from the sandbox be made. It changes the intersect categories so that Unknown has a capital U instead of a lower case one. Thanks -- WOSlinker (talk) 23:04, 5 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

I just removed the parameter as that is the default option. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 23:34, 5 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Add portal link to banner edit

{{editprotected}} Unless there is some problem I'm not aware of, please set "WPBannerMeta |PORTAL = China" so the China Portal shows up as a boxed link on the project banner. Thank you. Abby Kelleyite (talk) 02:52, 8 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Trying to "re-insert" the template to see if we can get a mod's attention. It's been two months since the last request.  –Nav  talk to me or sign my guestbook 16:13, 30 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Well not a "mod", but an administrator is here. Could you make the required changes to Template:WikiProject China/sandbox and reactivate the request? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 16:41, 30 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Sorry about that, sometimes I just write things without thinking (re: "mod" vs. administrator). I have posted the required changes to the template sandbox.  –Nav  talk to me or sign my guestbook 07:55, 1 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Okay done. As you've enabled quality and importance ratings there are a lot of categories which need creating now. See 1 and 2 for the prompts. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 08:23, 1 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Edit edit

Please add the following: |MAIN_CAT = WikiProject China articles

  Not done: Same as this discussion. There's no reason to flood the job queue with nearly 50,000 pages just to remove a single space. Perhaps this can be done along with another, more substantial edit in the future. LittleMountain5 19:28, 10 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

  |TF_5_NAME = the Modern Chinese music workgroup
  |TF_5_MAIN_CAT = WikiProject Modern Chinese music articles

to

 |tf 5={{{entertainment|{{{music|}}}}}}
  |TF_5_LINK           = Wikipedia:WikiProject China/Chinese-language entertainment
  |TF_5_NAME           = the Chinese-language entertainment taskforce
  |TF_5_MAIN_CAT       = WikiProject Chinese-language entertainment articles

Subgroup importance edit

It seems like all the taskforces and subgroup take the main importance category for their own importance. It seems to defeat the method of categorizing something as low importance to China overall but mid or even higher importance to a particular task force. I noticed while trying to clean out the old deprecated Template:WikiProject Chinese-language entertainment. Is that intentional? It seem counter to how most other projects work. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 07:26, 31 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

I don't know about intentional or not, but it is true that there are no taskforce-specific importance parameters; those taskforces that have importance ratings invariably inherit the main importance by using code like this:
  |tf 1 importance={{{importance|}}}
There are several ways of giving each taskforce an individual importance rating, the first thing to decide is: if the individual importance rating is absent, should the main importance rating be used instead (as with {{WikiProject Football}}) or should the article go into e.g. Category:Unknown-importance Chinese cities articles. This could be decided on a per-taskforce basis, so a second question is: which taskforces should have their own importance ratings? Are there any which should have no importance rating at all (as is the case with the Chinese maps workgroup)? --Redrose64 (talk) 20:36, 2 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Duplicate templates on the same page when |tibet=yes is used edit

This template is causing instances of duplicate templates when used with |tibet=yes on the same page that {{WikiProject Tibet}} is used. Pages that use both are added to Category:Pages using WikiProject banner shell with duplicate banner templates. The simplest solution is just to remove support for |tibet= in this template. An editor wishing to tag both, should just add both, that takes just a few more seconds. Gonnym (talk) 15:48, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
