List articles being categorized as unassessed edit

OK, I tried to improve the template by having it display the importance rating as well as the assessment rating, so I can start using the 1.0 assessment bot to generate lists of assessments. The problem is that when I assess an article as "list" is gets categorized as "unassessed" for some inexplicable reason. I'm not very good at reading code, so if anyone is good with these kinds of things could you check the template for me and see if it can be fixed? Thanks. --IllaZilla (talk) 07:19, 27 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Nevermind, fixed. Now I need to find a way of having it not display the "importance" part if it's something like a template or category, or adding a field for "NA" under importance. --IllaZilla (talk) 07:28, 27 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

WPBannerMeta edit

Would there be any concerns about converting this to use {{WPBM}}? I note that is was reverted a few months ago. A few categories would need to be renamed, but that would have the advantage of making the links at the top of these categories work! — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 13:59, 9 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

I was just thinking about this, because I was working last night on assessment infrastructure for WP:EMO which uses the meta template. I'll rename the necessary categories & get on with converting it later today. --IllaZilla (talk) 17:55, 9 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
I've put a version in the sandbox. Let me know if you need any help with it. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 18:01, 9 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
OK, I think I've done it. I'm still noticing an inconsistency between the old categories and the new, renamed ones though. For example, Category:Alien images is still populated while Category:Image-Class Alien articles isn't. Does something need to be adjusted to fix this, or will it correct itself with time? Once it's corrected I'll mark the extraneous categories for deletion. --IllaZilla (talk) 21:24, 9 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
They will move over eventually, or they can be forced over by making null edits. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 22:36, 9 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
There is one issue though. You currently have categories for 4 classes which are not supported now. They are Merge-, Needed-, Current- and Future-Class. These are rarely used by projects and so are not supported by default. If your project really needs these then the banner will need a custom class mask. (Details here - I can help if needed.) — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 22:47, 9 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
I'll take a look at it. We do use the Merge class as we have a number of stub articles marked for merger (well, 5 currently, but there are plenty of others that should be so marked) and the Future class as we have articles about upcoming films/games/etc (though only 1 at the moment I think). That was one of the reasons I wasn't gung-ho about converting to the meta template, since it doesn't support all of the possible categories (even if most projects don't use them, I think a meta template that is being more or less pushed across most of WP ought to at least support all of the existing category types...otherwise what's the point?). I suppose we could do without them, but I find the categories a handy way to keep tabs on articles that need merging & those that are about upcoming subjects.
OK, I looked it over and I don't get it (sorry, I'm not terribly technical and certainly not well-versed in code-type stuff). Could you help out, or do you think we ought to just ditch those 4 classes? --IllaZilla (talk) 00:54, 10 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
I've added Future and Merge. You should be able to see how to add/remove others by looking at the code in Template:WikiProject Alien/class. Regards, — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 07:43, 10 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Fantastic. Thanks for all the help! --IllaZilla (talk) 08:56, 10 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
