Tank

edit

Does anyone know why the Tank input for the first parameter isn't working? This can be quite clearly seen at Template:Whyte suffix/testcases. Can anyone explain why this is happening, or fix it? WT79 The Engineer (talk) 15:10, 24 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

@WT79 The Engineer: - the use of the uc: in the switch option meant that the option list must be upper case, as switch is case sensitive. I've now fixed it - e.g. {{whyte|0-6-0|Tank}} produces 0-6-0T. O Still Small Voice of Clam 15:35, 15 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Rear

edit

The Rear input isn't working when I try adding {{whyte|0-4-4|Rear}} to the Finnish Steam Locomotive Class F1 page. There also needs to be a better way to distinguish between rear tank locomotives and rack (tank) locomotives. Box tank locomotives also haven't been added to the template, nor is there currently any way to distinguish them from back tank locomotives.

Also is there any reason why an input for radial tank locomotives like the LSWR 415 class? I only just found out about radial tank locomotives today. Before then I just assumed they were side tank locomotives. Also why is the Aveling and Porter 2-2-0WT 'TJ' No. 9449 'The Blue Circle' is listed as a WT? The last time I checked, that arrangement was for well tank locomotives only. Correct me if I'm wrong. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 08:40, 19 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

@C.Syde65: It should be fixed now. It's because the #switch option in the template converts the parameter value to upper case, but it was trying to match it to lower case. Voice of Clam (talk) 11:01, 19 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
