black background making contrast problems? edit

I note that the black background of this userbox often makes the linked "Wikiproject Chess" text very difficult to make out against the background, as it appears as a dark blue or purple, depending on whether it is in my browser history. I know that the link colors can be overriden locally, but I was wondering if it would be better to explicitly select a color scheme for the text which would be easy to read? A generalization of this concern would be to refactor the colorings entirely for all elements of the box, including the background.

If most or all Wikiproject userboxes have a similar appearence, it is probably not a good idea to mess around with this particular box in isolation; this I need to discover. If so however, perhaps this reformatting of the colors can be addressed at a higher level. I will not touch this particular box for now, but welcome any feedback on this issue as I see what other Wikiprojects do. Baccyak4H (Yak!) 14:07, 27 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I agree with the fact that the former color was hampering readability, so your change is already an improvement even if I have no particular opinion on the new color to adopt. SyG 17:34, 9 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

minor tweak to fix vertical interbox spacing edit

I just removed two <br/>s from the userbox code, in order to remove some whitespace below the box when used in conjunction with other userboxes. In my hands, it now shows up much better in such a setting. Baccyak4H (Yak!) 20:27, 18 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
