New TopHit airplay charts

edit

Hello. TopHit has released another update, and now charts for the following countries are available: Belarus, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova. Can someone make a template similar to Russia Airplay? Sanslogique (talk) 17:30, 21 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

|Russia={{!}}{{#if:{{{date|}}}|Russia Airplay ([[TopHit]])|{{main other|[[Category:Single chart used with missing parameters]]}}<span style="color:red;">ERROR: MUST PROVIDE date FOR Russian CHART</span>}}{{#tag:ref|"[https://tophit.com/chart/top/radio/hits/ru/weekly/{{{date}}} Top Radio Hits Russia Weekly Chart]." There are also data for Germany, Poland, Romania, Spain, UK, and the USA, but this countries have their own charts.--Sanslogique (talk) 18:23, 21 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

It is actually worth noting that Latvia and Lithuania have their own charts as well. CeolAnGhra (talk) 06:54, 16 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Czech Republic template

edit

Hello! I used the template for the Czech Republic radio chart, but when I click the link to go to the ČNS IFPI webpage, only an Error 404 page appears. It seems like there's an issue with the link in the default template. Is there any way to fix this? CeolAnGhra (talk) 02:34, 16 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

South African charts

edit

As I am restricted from editing this template, EMA is no longer in charge of monitoring the South African charts and sa-ema.com is not functioning anymore. On 1 September 2021, the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA) launched The Official South African Charts ranking Local charts, Local & International chart, and same as the radio charts/airplay based on digital sales and music streaming. The chart data can be accessed through this site theofficialsacharts.co.za. I would appreciate it if the details on this informative page were updated and the chart identifiers were added for the singles chart template. This is not to be confused with Billboard South Africa Songs chart, although it should be added here also   Thank you. dxneo (talk) 00:20, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Alex 21, Muhandes, SD0001, SilverLocust, little help here please. dxneo (talk) 00:25, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Dxneo: I'm not promising I can do it, but where is the archive and how does one access a specific week? Muhandes (talk) 06:16, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Muhandes:

Thank you. Cool Marc 01:12, 25 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Coolmarc and Dxneo:
  • The current code looks for a |date= in the format YYYY-MM-DD, which does not match any of the new options. I am therefore not going to override it, in case some of the older charts were archived.
  • For 2021 charts, one needs to supply two dates which the template currently doesn't support. An ugly solution is to use |chartid=, e.g., |chartid=20-08-2021-to-26-08-2021. I am not going to implement it for now.
  • For 2022 onwards, I implemented a new chart South Africa2 which uses |week= and |year=. It is currently implemented in the sandbox, with two testcases implemented here. Note that nothing prevents anyone from using a year earlier than 2022 and creating nonsensical references. I can add code to prevent that, but the code is already quite complicated for this poor template, which was never meant to be used this way.
Let me know if the template is satisfactory. If so, either me or any other template editor can move it from the sandbox to the main template. Muhandes (talk) 13:59, 26 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
That's perfect thank you so much. For the 2021 charts, they can just be referenced manually. Cool Marc 15:38, 26 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Done I copied the sandbox to the main template. If you need my further involvement, be sure to ping me. Muhandes (talk) 07:31, 27 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Amazing, thank you. Cool Marc 07:40, 27 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Muhandes I noticed at the bottom of the article pages using the template, there is a category saying "Template:Single chart usages for South Africa", see Fe!n for example. I don't think it's supposed to be like that? Cool Marc 08:04, 27 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Just needed to create the tracking category Category:Single chart usages for South Africa2 (209). It should disappear from normal view now. Muhandes (talk) 10:58, 27 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Muhandes, Coolmarc, and Dxneo: Thanks all for doing this. Just wondering that since the TOSAC's streaming and airplay charts are separate, should clarification maybe be made on the 'South Africa2' template that the streaming chart is the one being referred to? E.g. the 'Czechdigital' and 'Slovakdigital' streaming chart templates vs. 'Czech Republic' and 'Slovakia' airplay templates. cybertrip👽 ( 💬📝) 11:39, 27 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
The Radio chart isn't notable. The streaming chart is what appears on the TOSAC website home page and the chart that's discussed in the media. Cool Marc 11:42, 27 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Coolmarc, and Cybertrip, actually it can be done. There's Category:South African Airplay Chart number-one singles. The chart would help expand the category somehow and it's only fair since the chart is cited in so many articles. Muhandes, why isn't |South Africa= scratched out since it doesn't seem to be working anymore? dxneo (talk) 12:43, 27 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Coolmarc: I agree that the radio chart isn't notable, but that doesn't override the fact that it exists. So I'm not suggesting that a new template be created for airplay. Just that the word "Streaming" should be added somewhere on the template display just to distinguish it from the other. cybertrip👽 ( 💬📝) 14:43, 27 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Dxneo: There are still many articles that use |South Africa= though - see Category: Single chart usages for South Africa. All the songs in this category will need updating to the new parameters. Richard3120 (talk) 14:49, 27 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Cybertrip, I don't really see the need to differentiate, especially with "steaming" as there's only Streaming and Airplay and Airplay charts are always written "x-country Airplay". |South Africa Airplay= is the way to go.

@Richard3120, I just tried accessing the auto-generated/template generated link and it does not lead anywhere. There have multiple chart IDs that have been scratched out in the past. Why keep it if it doesn't work? With that being said, Category:Single chart usages for South Africa should be replaced with TOSAC or a similar cat should be introduced. dxneo (talk) 16:20, 27 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Dxneo: That's my point – it's a tracking category that lists all of the songs that use the old, now defunct template that doesn't work. Someone needs to change all 154 song articles in this category to use the new template. The category will automatically depopulate as the articles are changed, and once it's empty, it can be removed. Richard3120 (talk) 17:41, 27 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Richard3120, well that can never be. TOSAC only dates from 2021 and this chart id only supports chart dating from 2022. Those 154 songs charts can't be replaced. I get your point, but where do we go from here in terms of tracking TOSAC charts? dxneo (talk) 17:56, 27 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Dxneo: Then they will have to be checked one by one to see if an archive URL exists for each of the EMA sources, and if there isn't then they will need to be removed from the chart table on each article. Richard3120 (talk) 18:37, 27 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Muhandes, thoughts on the Airplay charts? dxneo (talk) 21:26, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Dxneo: I have no opinion. I am only here to assist with implementing the consensus. Muhandes (talk) 07:10, 19 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Nigerian charts and certificates

edit

On 19 December 2020, TurnTable issued it's first weekly chart data in English.
It's prominent charts are TurnTable Top 100 Songs and TurnTable Top 100 Albums amongst the others. It also launched a certification system (TurnTable Certification System of Nigeria)

  • Top 100 Songs (chart data), I think the data can be accessed the same way as the South African charts.
  • Top 100 Albums (chart data), same applies here.
  • Certification (plaques)

Parameters:

Thoughts on this Muhandes? dxneo (talk) 22:05, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Dxneo: For the charts, can you please provide sample URLs for accessing the chart archives? Also, it is advisable (or maybe even required) to post at Template talk:Album chart and redirect discussion here, in case anyone has an opinion or can contribute to the discussion. Discussion about certifications are conducted at Template talk:Cite certification for the citation and at Template talk:Certification Table Entry for the certification table. I suggest you start discussion at the latter and invite discussion from the former. I will note that I do not see a source for the certification levels. Muhandes (talk) 07:38, 19 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
