@CaroleHenson: If you haven't noticed, the updates I made yesterday to the template force close all of the sections, unless you apply one of the section variables (the 1=) per the documentation. I have done so at Mary Elizabeth Price by example, Sadads (talk) 15:07, 18 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Yes, that's lovely. That's exactly the way I wanted it to appear, but I couldn't get if configured correctly. I really appreciate the documentation, too! Thanks much!--CaroleHenson (talk) 16:37, 18 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Excellent! That works, glad I could help, Sadads (talk) 19:33, 18 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Definition of New Woman

edit

The definition of "New Woman" was not intended to encompass all women who broke barriers to attain the art or literature education and careers in the late 19th century. Per a discussion about this topic: "...after poking around a bit in the primary literature, it looks to me like New Woman was first used widely as a derogatory term, and perhaps later a defiant term of self-identification. The population to which the term was applied was not only educated and independent, but made others (and not only men) feel uncomfortable with their new status. Subsequent scholarship (and there is a lot of it) has gone to great lengths illustrating this tension as well as providing numerous examples."

The list is inserted here to be used as a work list to see if any of these other women do properly belong in the navigation template.

So, the following is a list of painters:

Glad to see that you are persisting in refining and developing this list, despite the couple of snags that you have hit. Good job! Sadads (talk) 15:57, 21 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Oh, thanks! I didn't see this earlier.--CaroleHenson (talk) 18:59, 30 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Revised state

edit

The revised state of the navigation template is based upon the links in the "New Woman" article, but will be expanded as other writers and artists are found that have been described by themselves or someone as a "New Woman".

There are also some additional steps to resolve additional text added to a few articles about "New Woman" and resolution of the articles that have navigation templates that are not in the templates, but I'll do that after more research on the removed women.--CaroleHenson (talk) 06:05, 3 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
