Pinging @BrownHairedGirl: - this is going wrong on eg Category:Afghan television series by century as it sets a nonsense category of Category:Television in Afghanistan television by century.
There's a bunch of them on Special:WantedCategories at the moment - Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Angola, Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belgium, Belize, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Ivory Coast, Jamaica, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kuwait, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mexico, Montenegro, Morocco, Nepal, New Zealand, Nigeria, North Korea, Norway, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Scotland, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, Uruguay, Venezuela, Vietnam, Wales, Yugoslavia, the Czech Republic, the Dominican Republic, the Netherlands, the Philippines, the Republic of Macedonia, the Soviet Union, the United Arab Emirates, the United States; Afghanistan-Brazil has somewhat unhelpfully been created as blank categories.
Personally I think century cats for something like TV are completely pointless, they just create a bunch of unnecessary WP:SMALLCATs that if anything hinder navigation and just create work. But since we are where we are, I thought I'd point it out.... Le Deluge (talk) 09:45, 3 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
- @Le Deluge, the problem is simple: User:HugoAWB (aka User:Hugopako) tried a to update the template to reflect category renamings, but their edit[1] screwed it up. I have fixed it[2] … so when the templates purge, all will be ok.
- Since these are additional categories, they don't hinder navigation in any way. What they do achieve is to ensure that television is part of the by-century series of categories. The extra work is solely a consequences of User:HugoAWB (aka User:Hugopako) not checking the effect of their edit by purging one of the pages which transcludes the template.
