Callsign suffixes

edit

Please note that many of these stations have suffixes in their actual callsigns and should so reflect that here. The base callsign should only be used when that callsign is the actual one in use. Otherwise, some "call"s listed here are the actual calls of other stations (e.g.: WBZ vs. WBZ-TV. WBZ is only the A.M. radio station. Any other use to mean either the F.M. or T.V. station is incorrect).Stereorock (talk) 10:58, 20 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

UM, no, this is a navigational box, they don't need to be here as these are all TV stations so no AM radio stations will be here. This isn't the article nor are we to stand on official names at WP as we use common names. --Spshu (talk) 15:36, 7 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
Actually, they do as they are part of the official callsign.Stereorock (talk) 22:51, 20 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
Addendum, most of the other broadcast boxes that I've come across do have the full callsign and so for commonality, this one should as well.Stereorock (talk) 22:55, 20 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
What happens on others isn't neccessary for all for not all have it this way. You just have not found any. Spshu (talk) 23:28, 20 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
ALSO WE ALREADY WENT THROUGH THE OFFICIAL NAME NONSENSE HERE. Stop pushing something that don't have to follow ie, using the official callsign. Spshu (talk) 23:31, 20 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
It's not nonsense. Those are the official calls. Anything else is a lie and a disservice to Wikipedia users. The callsigns include the suffixes and the article names include the suffixes! We DO follow the official callsign procedure here!Stereorock (talk) 02:51, 21 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
Read this about callsign suffixes: [1], scroll to North America and you will see that on Wikipedia, we DO match the callsign up with how the regulatory agency assigns them, including suffixes.Stereorock (talk) 02:51, 21 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
It is NONSENSE in regards to a NAVBOX. Then it is a lie that you user name is Stereorock and I should consider you a edit warring editor, since you do not use your real legal name, first middle last.
That is the article "Naming Convention", has the using the "|" to shorten them changed the article name? NO. Spshu (talk) 14:01, 21 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Semi-protection again

edit

I have applied semi-protection again (after it expired last month). Looking at the page history after the protection expired, there were IPs periodically adding stations that are no longer O&Os such as KCPQ (which is still owned by Tribune Broadcasting, and recently signed a large reverse compensation deal to keep the Fox affiliation) and KSTU (which Fox sold in 2007 and is now owned by Tribune). Looks like this is a long-term vandalism problem, so semi-protection is now indefinite, as this is now the third time it has been applied.[2] Zzyzx11 (talk) 04:02, 23 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Change the 3rd note, regarding WPWR-TV, to read: "Secondary affiliation; The CW is the station's primary affiliation."

WTOK-TV is NOT an ABC O&O; this is obviously vandalism (the fact the individual misspelled Gray Television is a dead giveaway). 2604:6000:AA05:2600:2464:C44F:D4DA:D665 (talk) 00:29, 10 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Remove WHOI from the list, as this template is for major network O&Os, and Comet is not a major network. 223.24.26.55 (talk) 14:06, 16 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

The Nexstar-owned CW stations are not owned-and-operated stations (the company owns 35 of them), as acquiring a 75% majority stake in the network is violating ownership cap regulations, while the CBS News and Stations-owned CW stations are owned-and-operated stations (the company owns 8 of them). 2603:8001:B202:3294:A141:D840:7559:D1AC (talk) 16:33, 23 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Should the template include PBS member stations, more specifically the major ones in large markets? 2600:1012:B011:BAF7:C4B3:21E8:A396:3943 (talk) 16:50, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Not done: A check of the article Owned-and-operated station tells me that [PBS] is not allowed to own or operate any of its stations by way of its ownership model, as its individual member stations own the network instead, but that statement is uncited. If there's any ambiguity, ask about it at WT:TV. casualdejekyll 17:29, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
