Not working

At least in Firefox 3, {{lang-fa}} doesn't work. The displayed text is nonsense...

• Freidoune Sahebjam (Persian: فریدون صاحب جمع) (1933-2008) was a [etc]

...and the wikitext is hard to understand unless you use a non-breaking space

• Freidoune Sahebjam (Persian: فریدون صاحب جمع) (1933-2008) was a [etc]

Using {{lang}}, the displayed text is correct...

• Freidoune Sahebjam (Persian:فریدون صاحب جمع) (1933-2008) was a [etc]

...but you still need a non-breaking space if you want to edit the wikitext easily

• Freidoune Sahebjam (Persian:فریدون صاحب جمع) (1933-2008) was a [etc]

The above described problem will only arise when the Arabic script is followed by any characters used in languages written left-to-right (such characters include Arabic numerals, which also are used in English).

To fix it, please change the source to:

[[Persian language|Persian]]: {{lang|fa|{{{1}}}}}&lrm;<noinclude>
{{doc}}
</noinclude>

Where "‎" is a left-to-right mark used to restore the text direction. It is also used in {{Lang-ar}}. jonkerz ♠talk 13:14, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

Done Nothing we can do about the unfortunate display in the wikitext, although a workaround is to supply a dummy parameter to the template:

• Freidoune Sahebjam (Persian: فریدون صاحب جمع, romanized: x) (1933-2008) was a [etc]

Doc wrong

The transclusion {{Lang-x/doc}} should be removed because this template does nothing of the sort, although it should – especially |links=no. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 13:00, 18 November 2014 (UTC)

Edit request, 16 October 2015

Please replace the contents of this template with the contents of the sandbox, to which I have added |lit={{{lit|}}}, which adds an option to include a literal translation. This makes this template consistent with the template’s documentation following this proposal for the parameter's inclusion. Thank you, Ry's the Guy ^{(talk|contribs)} 09:22, 16 October 2015 (UTC)

Text formatting

I was just wondering that why, on earth, is the Arabic script bold within this template?...
If Wikipedia's manual of style for foreign terms suggests that text in non-Latin scripts (such as Greek, Cyrillic or Chinese) should neither be italicized as non-English nor bolded, then what is this template based on?

How so? "{{lang-fa|دهه فجر}}" which gives "Persian: دهه فجر" doesn't seem bolded to me. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 10:53, 20 August 2016 (UTC)
