No. of teams edit

@Gonnym: what do you think of adding another alternative to number of contestants that would be number of teams for television series where the contestants compete and win as teams? The thought came up when I was considering on creating a season article for The Great Food Truck Race. TheDoctorWho (talk) 00:36, 18 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

  • Yeah, seems a reasonable request. I'll add it now. --Gonnym (talk) 16:21, 18 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
    • @Gonnym: I missed you responding here somehow, thanks for adding it!! TheDoctorWho (talk) 20:53, 1 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
      • @Gonnym: Does this still accept a teams parameter, it didn't work in my sandbox? TheDoctorWho (talk) 01:34, 28 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
        • @TheDoctorWho: did you ever use it? I can't find any trace of me adding it, which is very strange if I said I would do. --Gonnym (talk) 10:58, 28 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
          • @Gonnym: Never finished the article I intended to use it on last time but the one I'm working on now is coming more towards article-ready. So it'll get used this time. It's working on my sandbox now so thanks for fixing it! The other thing I found strange as well though was that it was in the documentation but that it just hadn't been added to the template itself. Runner-ups edit

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the plural form of runner-up is runners-up and not runner-ups, yes? Wani (talk) 22:50, 10 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Wani: I've fixed this and the general pluralization code in the module. The parameter |runner-ups= still exists, so if it feels that needs to be changed, we'd have to probably get a bot involved. Though with the new pluralization code, I don't think that, |winners=, or |companion_shows= is needed any more. Gonnym care to add any thoughts about this? I think my assessment is correct. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 00:40, 11 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
I agree and was thinking the same thing. The pluralize code is a much more modern approach to this and makes the parameter usage much more consistent. The next step (in my opinion) would be to add the deprecation code so the plural parameters can eventually be removed. Gonnym (talk) 08:06, 11 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Agreed. I think we can implement that and start this process. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 23:09, 12 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Just discovered thanks to multiple edits from Gonnym that if there are multiple runners-up, and the parameter is changed from “runner-ups” to “runner-up” it completely removes that info from the infobox. - SanAnMan (talk) 18:44, 4 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
@SanAnMan: |runner-ups= is depreciated (as are the other former plural parameters) and shouldn't be used any more. The term will pluralize if more than one name is added. It should be fixed where you saw the issue to the non-plural version. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 19:00, 4 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Favre1fan93: Thank you for fixing it, the term wasn’t working before with more than one name but it is now. - SanAnMan (talk) 19:20, 4 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
No problem. You may have seen the page in a weird in-between state of the template after the old plural parameters were removed and the site not having yet purged its cache. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 23:00, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
