Template talk:Infobox French royalty styles

I have deleted the infobox, which was quite inapropriate. First of all, the styles of the kings are totally irrelevant in the articles discussing the life and political achievements of each king. If you want to discuss the style of the kings of France, you can do so in the dedicated List of French monarchs article. Secondly, the infoboxes were riddled with errors. The king was never addressed as "Monsieur le Roi". Where did that fallacy come from??? The king was addressed as "Sire". And finally the crown in the picture is not the crown of France. The crown of France was melted down at the time of the French Revolution. If you absolutely need a piece of true French regalia, you can use a picture of the Coronation Sword, the one hanging on the side of Louis XIV in his famous portray. What's the point

This infobox is huge for the tiny amount of information it adds. I don't really see the use...if the title is that interesting, include it in the body of the article, not as an infobox. Also, what is the relevance of "Your most Christian majesty" when the subject is a dead French king. At best, you could include the French version (what would it be anyway, "Votre majesté la plus chrétienne"??)

Anyway, rather than going to TfD (which should be reserved for templates which need to be nuked, not just those that aren't terribly useful), I may just remove it from any instances I come across. I'd love to hear anyone make a case for its inclusion. Stevage 09:48, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
