Problem on Yahoo, Many blanked pages

edit

Currently linked site, Yahoo!, is very nice website. I love that very much. But sadly, there is a problem about Yahoo copy of Gray' Anatomy. Many pages are blanked (white, no content) for a long time. I don't know why, and from when this have happened. Here is list of blanked pages. (This is not a whole list, this is just a list of pages which I noticed and collected only today.)

Can anyone see something on the linked pages? To me, there are nothing :( --Was a bee (talk) 11:22, 21 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for pointing this out, Was a bee. I can't see anything either. I think the best option may be to (1) contact Yahoo support or (2) get a one-time bot to batch replace the links, or if there are only a few articles, to manually replace the links. --LT910001 (talk) 02:21, 26 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thank you LT910001. (1) Today I searched the contact, but I can't find appropriate mail address of Yahoo :S (2) In Yahoo's Gray, there were 292 pages total (from [1] to [2]). Among them, 56 pages had no content (AFA I counted with Irvine, download management software). This is about 20% of total pages. This would be huge in number, but I think, technically, replacement of links is not so difficult task. If there is a difficult thing...., it is that "where should we redirect this links into?" There are some candidates site, listed in Template:Gray's Anatomy link#Alternative sites. I feel Open Library's one (like this) seems comparatively nicer for its very book-like appearance, and does not require registration for full functionality (including book-download function). Thoughts?--Was a bee (talk) 09:05, 27 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
I quite like the open library one, and it seems accessible by subject. Where to go from here? --LT910001 (talk) 01:41, 28 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thank you LT910001. I changed link target from Yahoo to Open Library by this edit[3]. Within 2 or 3 days, this change will be gradually reflected at each pages[4] which transclude this template (If there is a crucial problem about Open library's one, simply by reverting that edit, situation is restored to the former state.) Remaining step for completion is.... waiting some days :D. --Was a bee (talk) 09:34, 29 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
That's great, hopefully archive.org will keep the files hosted in the future. Yahoo has seen significant cuts recently, and this may be one of them. The dangers in planning long-time with for-profit ventures. CFCF (talk · contribs · email) 21:30, 1 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
