Why I removed the growing list of international organizations

edit

Nav-Box footer templates are navigational aids that are self-enclosed. Every article in a template should in turn contain the template. Secondly they list things by their defining characteristics. The fact that Canada is an observer at the African Development Bank is not a defining characteristic of either Canada's foreign affairs or the the Bank. Where there is a notable enough relationship we can create an article like Canada and NATO, which is specifically about Canada's relations with an institution. In those few cases articles about institutions can be here. Otherwise no institutions belong here or on any other foreign relations templates. For more information on this topic please visit WP:FOR. --Kevlar (talkcontribs) 19:22, 7 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

If this topic is important to you, you can create a International organization membership of the United States-type article for Canada and add it to the template. --Kevlar (talkcontribs) 19:24, 7 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
I understand your point and I do agree. I will consider your recommendation about the Canadian-related article listing memberships of international organizations and possibly create one (unless someone else gets around to it before I do). NorthernThunder (talk) 20:52, 7 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Canadian Flag. To stay or Go on this Template

edit

Every Foreign relations template of every country on Wikipedia (whether a UN Member State or an unrecognized country) has got their National flags in the upper left hand corner of the Foreign relations template. Graham 11 is 100 percent wrong. The Canadian flag should stay in my opinion. YZDMAC (talk) 0:40 2 May 2024 (UTC)

Should be removed as per MOS:INFOBOXFLAG.Moxy🍁 11:53, 2 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Nope all the other Foreign relations Templates of countries whether they are UN members/observers or unrecognized states have it. So it my opinion it should stay. Okay. YZDMAC (talk) 20:14, 12 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
I do not see how MOS:INFOBOXFLAG is applicable. A foreign relations template is a navbox, not an infobox.
MOS:INFOBOXFLAG starts by saying that flags "could be unnecessarily distracting and might give undue prominence to one field among many." These drawbacks, which are often relevant in an infobox, do not appear applicable in a foreign relations template. Bruce leverett (talk) 00:06, 29 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for everything. I too believe in the same thing as well on Templates about the Foreign relations of many countries. YZDMAC (talk) 01:47, 29 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
But still every Foreign relations of sovereign countries whether UN members and most international organizations have flags. YZDMAC (talk) 22:50, 29 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
It should be removed per WP:NAVDECOR which states Specifically, there should be no national or regional flags or coats of arms. --woodensuperman 07:43, 3 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Still I think that they should keep it anyway. Because almost all countries have the flag icons on their Foreign relations templates. YZDMAC (talk) 08:29, 3 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
If they do, then we should be removing them from there also. That's not a justification for keeping here. --woodensuperman 10:00, 3 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
No they should keep the flags. Why remove them from the Foreign relations templates of countries. Keeping them there is alright for now. YZDMAC (talk) 16:12, 3 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Don’t jump ahead and remove the coat of arms and flags on the Foreign relations templates until we reach a concensus on this talk page about the cost of arms and flags. Personally I think that the flags and coat of arms should be there because it will help identify a sovereign country specifically. So WoodenSuperMan just don’t change any flags or coat of arms on any Foreign relations templates until we solve and reach a consensus right here. YZDMAC (talk) 16:18, 3 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
You're the one that keeps re-adding it. You're a brand new user that has come here purely to make this point. Stop edit warring. See MOS:FLAG; WP:NAVDECOR, etc, etc. Flags are NOT appropriate in navboxes. --woodensuperman 08:08, 4 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
No you stop Wooden Superman!!!!! The flags must be here. YZDMAC (talk) 08:41, 4 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
This goes against the guidelines. STOP edit warring now. There is already a warning on your talk page. Or this will go to Admins. --woodensuperman 09:16, 4 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
