editprotected Can someone add an id to this template (id = editeditnotice or similar) so that this editnotice validates as XHTML 1.0 Transitional? Thanks. MC10 (TCGBL) 00:12, 7 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

How, where and why? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:30, 7 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
I've answered "why" above. "Where" – Template:Editnotices/Group/Template:Editnotices. How – as following:
{{editnotice
| id = editeditnotice
| text =
{{#switch:
| Template:Editnotices/Namespace =
 You're {{#ifeq:{}|view|viewing|editing}} the namespace notice for the ' space.
| Template:Editnotices/Group =
 You're {{#ifeq:{}|view|viewing|editing}} the group notice for 0|3}} and all its subpages.
| Template:Editnotices/Page =
 You're {{#ifeq:{}|view|viewing|editing}} the page notice for 0|3}}.
| User:BASEPAGENAME/Editnotice
| User talk:BASEPAGENAME/Editnotice =
 You're {{#ifeq:{}|view|viewing|editing}} the page notice for NAMESPACE:BASEPAGENAME.
| #default =
 Warning! It seems you're {{#ifeq:{}|view|viewing|editing}} an editnotice with an invalid name.
}} For guidance, see Wikipedia:Editnotice. You may use the template editnotice for formatting. See also :Category:Editnotice templates.

Usage:
<pre>

</pre>
Note: All parameters are optional except <code>text</code>. For full documentation see editnotice.
hidden end
}}
Hope that's enough information. Cheers, MC10 (TCGBL) 00:35, 7 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
And just wondering, but why do account creators have access to editing editnotices? MC10 (TCGBL) 00:39, 7 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
Finished making the edits. MC10 (TCGBL) 00:54, 7 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
Account Creators can create usernames that are too similar to create normally. Not sure how that plays into the right, but I know it allows us to override MediaWiki:Titleblacklist, and that is also what allows us to edit editnotices/groupnotices. :) Avicennasis @ 01:13, 7 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please apply this edit, which updates this to reflect the recent change to MediaWiki:Protectedpagetext. Thanks. Anomie 23:23, 9 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Think that's done, cheers. — Joseph Fox 21:30, 11 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Error for files edit

This template does not work well when viewing/editing the edit notice of a file because it displays the file rather than the name of the file. Perhaps a colon is needed somewhere? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 17:32, 22 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

I just added some colons, see if that did it for you. Anomie 19:52, 22 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
